You can see how Brightwall looks after it is installed. It helps direct water toward the sump pump in order for the basement to be drained more effectively.
Here is a picture of a house with windows before and after the Healthy Spaces team fixed them up. Windows can be helpful in keeping moisture out just as well as a well sealed house.
Homeowners in Hanson, KY, purchased their home over 10 years ago. They recently began to renovate their home when they discovered that their floors were creaking and were beginning to sag. They were afraid that the issue would get worse, so they decided to contact Healthy Spaces.
Upon inspection, our Design Specialist, Damon, found high humidity which was causing the deterioration of the floor joists in the crawl space. The weakened girders and floor joists are unable to continue supporting the weight above, and the floor above the crawl space becomes bouncy, soft, and may begin to sag.
Tad and his crew installed several SmartJacks in the crawl space. SmartJacks are used to permanently lifts and stabilizes existing beams and floor joists in the crawl space. Steel columns are secured to the beams or joists. Heavy-duty rods allow for adjustment and a custom fit for each SmartJack System installed.
During the fall time, a homeowner in Evansville, IN, noticed a bit of water entering the basement but recently, there has been a great increase in water that has made its way inside due to a large quantity of rainfall. Whenever there is a leak in the basement and water is entering it, it can flood the basement over time. Water can damage the interior of the basement and can create Efflorescence to show on the walls. Efflorescence is a chalky white powder that comes from minerals in the concrete, mortar, or soil that dissolves in water and is left behind after it evaporates. It is essential to prevent water from leaking into a basement to protect the home from major issues down the road.
To keep the water away and dry air in, the walls are covered using CleanSpace. CleanSpace is a 20 mil liner that is tear-resistant and prevents mold growth on the liner. A basement needs a bigger sump pump system unlike a crawl space, so a TripleSafe Sump Pump is installed. A small trench is dug beside the walls and a water guard is put in to direct water flow to the TripleSafe Sump Pump. A SaniDry Sedona is plugged in to keep a continuous dry air flow. Having tools that work effectively as a system will create a tranquil mindset.
In Evansville, IN, a family began to worry about their keepsakes in the basement when the mud was finding its way inside. If the mud was finding its way into the basement, then some cracks needed to be sealed. Whenever water or mud is leaking into a basement, then mold may grow on the corners or bottom of the walls. If water is touching the wall, then more than likely, mold will too. Unwanted things entering a basement can be overwhelming, but it is fixable!
Since it was a possibility that water was entering through the walls as well, CleanSpace was put up on the walls. This will direct any water to flow to the bottom of the wall, into the water guard system. A trench is placed beside the bottoms of the walls and then the water guard system is put in place. The water guard system will then direct the water to the SuperSump Pump. The SuperSump Pump pumps water to the outside. This whole system made it possible for the family to be able to store their keepsakes safely in the basement again.
