Comment: Hello, recently I was smelling something musty in my basement but couldn't find the issue. Then two days ago, I stepped on a wet spot on the floor (carpet). The finished walls were not wet to the touch and the sump pump area was dry, but there was an area of the floor (about 2 ft x 8 ft) that was wet. Then yesterday after the heavy rain, the area jumped to about 5 ft x 15 ft soaking wet. I tried to pull the carpet up to see if there was an issue but couldn't see anything (plus it was very hard to hold up since it was soaked and a huge area). I am attempting to dry with fans but that's not even touching it. My insurance won't cover groundwater issues so I might be screwed... I would appreciate some expertise in this area! Thank you!

Comment: We have a finished basement that recently started to flood in one area under the carpet. Only happens when it rains. The carpet is usually saturated about 9 square feet and has to be vacuumed out to avoid mold. House is about 12 years old. Need to see what my options are.
