Moisture in the basement leads to mold growth that can damage your home, make you and your family sick, and make your basement and whole house smell musty. Comment: I recently purchased this home. With the first thaw upon owning the home I noticed water in the Northeast corner of the basement. It is a finished basement and I am unsure where the water is coming from. I am looking for someone who can tell me where the water is coming from, how long it has been going on and the cost to fix and refinish the basement. There is also mold in the lower part of the drywall.

Comment: My husband and I bought a house three years ago. It has some sort of sump system, but it looks like the previous owners did it themselves. Every year, in the spring, the basement has flooded by about an inch. We can hear the pump doing its best, but clearly not all the water is channeled to the sump pump. Strangely, there is also a stand-point well in the basement that is connected to the outdoor faucets. Some of the flooding comes up from there. We are short on money and have seen this as more of an annoyance than a danger.

Comment: We have water coming from a window well/or wall in old basement. Also, mold in old basement. We also have an addition that has given us problems since we moved in in 1992. Water seems to be leaking near the fireplace into the family room. I am sure there is mold there as well.

Comment: I have a wide open basement and have been getting a bit of water in a few spots on the floor and we've been unable to tell where it's coming from. We don't currently have anything in place that would help with the ware (sump, Beaver system, etc). We're looking to finish the basement eventually, but not until we get the water situation fully under control.
