Wet Crawl Space, New London, NH

A homeowner in New London, New Hampshire had concerns with his damp and musty bedroom. He noticed this issue ever since he moved into the home three years ago. Unable to continue living in these circumstances, he reached out to Erickson Foundation Solutions for a permanent fix.  One of our Design Specialists, Josh Phillips, went to the house to conduct a free home inspection. While completing the inspection, Josh noticed that the existing encapsulation system in the crawl space was not keeping moisture out as it was intended. This was the source of why the homeowner's bedroom was damp and musty. Mold, wood rot, and other negative effects also resulted because of it. The wood rot has caused cracks in the wall and doors to not shut properly. Josh recommended installing our SuperSump sump pump, CleanSpace vapor barrier, and SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. The SuperSump sits in a basin in the crawl space and pumps out water that is surrounding the outside of the foundation. The CleanSpace vapor barrier properly encapsulates the crawl space to keep out moisture, which protects against mold, wood rot, and pests. The SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier further helps prevent against moisture, creating a dry space and delivering better air quality to the entire home. The homeowner loved the final result. He will look to us when completing future home projects.

    Sump Pump Replacement, Nashua, NH

A homeowner in Nashua, New Hampshire has lived in his home for over 40 years. Several years ago, he noticed that his basement would leak. In order to fix this, he had a sump pump installed. This pump isn't working as it was intended to, resulting in the basement flooding. Looking for a permanent solution keep his basement dry; he reached out to our Erickson team. Our Design Specialist, John Prince, recommended installing WaterGuard perimeter drainage, SuperSump sump pump, and FlexiSpan crack sealant. Our crew started installing this waterproofing system by chipping our concrete along the border of the basement floor to make space for the WaterGuard drainage. This system captures water at the perimeter of the basement before being exposed to the walls or floor. The water collected then flows to our SuperSump sump pump. A new basin was created for the sump pump to sit in since the previous basin was not in the ideal spot. A feed line was installed connecting the old basin to the new basin in order to allow the new sump system to pump out the unwanted water. Once these systems were installed, they were cemented in place. An exterior discharge line was then installed to the sump pump to direct water safely out of the home. IceGuard was installed to the discharge line to prevent the pipe from freezing, which prevents sump pumps from backing up and flooding. Lastly, FlexiSpan crack sealant was used to seal a large crack in the basement wall. This sealant stops water from making its way through the crack, and is able to adjust to settlement, making it a long-lasting solution. With the job now complete, crew lead Ryan Champagne went over a final walkthrough with the homeowner. He was thrilled that he would never have to deal with the annoying cleanup process again!

    Basement Leak Repair, Nashua, NH

A homeowner in Nashua, New Hampshire had been experiencing leaks in her basement. One area that the homeowner was particularly concerned about was the water heater. Looking for a way to keep the basement permanently dry, she reached out to Erickson Foundation Solutions. Our Design Specialist, John Prince, conducted a free inspection of the home. After discussion with the homeowner, John recommended installing WaterGuard perimeter drainage, TrenchDrain surface drainage, and TripleSafe sump pump system. This system captures water at the perimeter of the basement and delivers it to the sump pump, where it is then pumped out of the home through an exterior discharge line. When there are areas where WaterGuard is inaccessible, TrenchDrain is installed to continue the flow of water to the sump pump. The TrenchDrain system connects to the WaterGuard system, as can be seen in the after photo. Once all these systems are installed, they are cemented in place. This homeowner now has peace of mind that her basement will stay dry!

Keeping a Basement Dry, North Chelmsford, MA

These homeowners in North Chelmsford were tired of their basement having a wet, musty smell. They planned to finish a section of the basement area in the near future, and so knew they needed to solve their water and moisture problem first. Their old sump pump was functional, but sitting in an exposed pit of water, which allowed mold to grow and moisture to spread.  Our team proposed and installed a complete waterproofing system that would allow them to have a dry basement. First, the walls were encapsulated with CleanSpace vapor barrier, which effectively captures all moisture leaking through the basement walls. Next, we added a perimeter drainage system called WaterGuard along the base of all the foundation walls. Any water entering the basement from the edges of the foundation would be caught by the WaterGuard tracks and directed to the sump pump basin. The TripleSafe system within the basin includes 3 sump pumps and an alarm system. This waterproofing system also comes with a battery back-up, in case the home ever loses power during a storm.  To further help control moisture levels in the basement, the homeowners purchased a SaniDry dehumidifier, the most effective dehumidifier on the market. This is all backed up by our full warranty and our All Things Basementy network! With this complete waterproofing system in place, they have peace of mind that their basement will stay dry all the time!
