We have an old sump pump system that leaks ridiculously at the spout where it gets pushed out of the foundation, essentially a complete mess that barely works. Paired with a very old dehumidifier that sends the accrued water into that sump pump so it gets sprayed all over the place and taken back into the dehumidifier. We have regraded our house so the overall problem has improved, but would like to stop having water spew all over and would like a sustainable solution in the basement. We need to insulate where the floor joints meet the foundation but are holding off for fear of trapping moisture into the basement even more. We have significant water pooling in our basement after every rainstorm. The gutters were cleaned out recently, and we installed a PVC pipe to reroute some of the water from the front gutters in order to rectify the situation. That has not helped. The water collects by our washer/dryer.

My basement walls have ugly stains on them. I have researched some of what these stains might be. I have had water issues in my basement for many years. I have a good sump pump and it takes care of the water; however, when the power goes out, I am in trouble. I have a battery back-up system which kicks in when the power goes out. Unfortunately this past week the power went out due to the major thunderstorm and my battery failed, so again I had some water issues.
