Comment: I had a room built about 7 years ago in my basement that I use for my office now. After hurricane Helene, I noticed the paint bubbled out on the back wall (drywall in front of the original cinder block) and it was full of water. I had a contractor come look and they found the insulation and wall were both saturated as well as water under my LVO flooring.

Comment: We are in the process of refinancing our house. The appraiser saw some foundation issues in the basement. The loan officer stated that it would need to be checked out by a licensed contractor to see if it needs repaired or if there are no issues to the foundation.

Comment: We are currently renting a home that we are wanting to purchase from the owner. The basement has water issues that appear to be coming from between the foundation and the slab. This happens after substantial rain has fallen. About half of the basement floods with about one inch of water being the total amount. We would like to be able to finish out a portion of the basement to use as livable space.

Comment: Has a basement that has a leak when it rains hard. He said it doesn't happen all the time, but with the rains last night, it was wet in the basement. It is coming in at the bottom joint of a fireplace where it meets the floor. He said he put in a french drain about 4 years ago that has helped a little, but not permanently.

Comment: Full basement with a brick porch attached to the back of the house. The porch is enclosed and does not have any vents. There is some moisture around a 24 in area and there appears to be some wood damage from the moisture. He mentioned maybe some damage to the floor joists or sill plate. He also said the insulation seems wet and the house is damp overall. His wife's theory is that water is pouring against the basement wall from the porch and he thinks that it is a humidity/dampness issue.
