I am lifting and putting a basement under a 450 square foot cabin at the bottom of a hill fronting summit lake. Lots of water comes down the hill and I am concerned that the basement will not be dry. The contractor plans to put a French drain behind, through and the sides of the foundation wall, but it still concerns me, especially reading your statements regarding outside french drains plugging over time. Now while planning would seem to be the time to get this done correctly. It sounds like you guys know what you are doing. But I am not sure how much extra it would cost to have your involvement.

Basement smells from moisture and possible mice. one wall has a small area that gets wet when it rains and it was patched once before. floor is dry but un-even.
