Larry Janesky, founder and owner of Basement Systems, Inc.®, the world’s leading network of
basement experts, is a finalist in the Executive of the Year category of the 2011 American Business Awards-SM (ABA). The winners for each category will be chosen next week and announced at the 9th annual Stevie® Awards on June 20 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
On Thursday, May 12, 2011, Janesky appeared as a finalist in this year’s ABA awards, which were decided upon by the agreement of independent judges deeming such individuals as “worthy of national recognition.” The presentation on June 20 will benefit Camfed, an organization educating girls and women in the fight against poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa.
Janesky began his legacy as just a 17-year-old self-employed carpenter who, after having built 20 homes, set out on a two-decade trek to develop the industry-leader in basement waterproofing, basement finishing, and crawl space repair—Basement Systems, Inc. In the years since he has discovered what he teaches today — business owners must grow personally in order to help their businesses excel.
In addition to developing a product line of 25 patented basement and crawl space repair products, Janesky has authored several books and writes a daily motivational message for entrepreneurs and businesspeople entitled
Think Daily. His most recent book,
The Highest Calling, has received national recognition as the best business book of 2010 by SmallBusinessTrends.com and at the New England Book Festival. He was also named Greater New Haven Business Person of the Year in 2009.
The American Business Awards are the nation’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small.
Finalists were chosen by business professionals nationwide during preliminary judging in April and May. Stevie Award winners will be selected from among the finalists in each category next week by members of 10 specialized final judging committees. More than 150 executives will have participated in judging this year.
