Basement Systems, Inc. announces winner of its 3rd Annual Integrity Scholarship; presented to a student looking to continue their education who exemplifies dedication and hard work.
Griffin Barron, Basement Systems 3rd Annual Integrity Scholarship Winner
In his early years, Griffin Barron was satisfied with taking the easy route in life. In middle school, for example, Griffin would calculate how much homework he needed to turn in to receive an 89.5%, which was rounded to an A. He was smart, confident, and a teacher favorite, but, by his own admission, he had “little to no integrity”. It wasn’t until he got his first job at 16 that things began to change.
Working long shifts at a local grocery store made Griffin better understand the value of hard work. He prided himself on doing his job better and faster than his coworkers, which in turn earned Griffin more hours and a pay raise. This adrenaline rush he got from putting his full effort into his job was equivalent to him solving a difficult math problem or understanding a complex idea.
It’s this work ethic and growth that makes Basement Systems, Inc. of Seymour, CT, pleased to announce Barron as the 3rd Annual Integrity Scholarship winner. Griffin’s story of finding passion and integrity through work are standards Basement Systems exemplifies through its products, employees, and workmanship. Griffin, 18, will pursue an Electrical and Computer Engineering degree at Oregon State University starting this fall.
Griffin says integrity is the measure of someone’s “disconnect between their beliefs and their actions.” After taking the easy route in his early years, Griffin now believes he “can change the ways people interact with technology” and is “ready to work for it.”
Basement Systems Founder and CEO Larry Janesky says he is glad to present this award to Griffin, who is on the path to “a lifetime of learning.”
“Our company values those who can show dedication through their work, day in and day out, which is a quality Griffin has,” Janesky said.
