Basement Systems and CleanSpace installers participate in Louisiana Extreme Makeover to help family in need.
A concerned group of Basement Systems and CleanSpace installers from around the country made a trip down to Louisiana on March 10th and 11th to participate in the Extreme Makeover of a home in Westwego, LA. Westwego sits in the Greater New Orleans area and was hard hit by Hurricane Katrina.
The family selected to receive the Extreme Makeover this time has truly felt the effects of nature over the past few years. Brad & Laura Usea, along with their family, barely made it through Katrina. Then, their home was devastated by a tornado in February of 2007. The Usea’s had taken in family members and when tornados ravaged the area last year they were sheltering Brad’s mother and two displaced brothers, who had been living in a trailer in the backyard until the tornados destroyed it. Many in the neighborhood considered Brad and Chad heroes because of their efforts as volunteer firefighters to rescue people trapped in their homes.
The makeover received support from Deltec homes, makers of “hurricane proof homes” and as always, many volunteers from both local communities and far away donated their time to help a family in need. The volunteers from Basement System’s and CleanSpace’s network installed many of the company’s products designed to keep crawl spaces dry, even when leaks and flooding happen. These included an EverLast Crawl Space Door, the CleanSpace Encapsulation System, Basement Systems SmartSump sump pump, the SaniDry dehumidifier and air filter, and CleaSpace Drainage Matting.
Lou Bemer from Basement Systems Inc headquarters in Seymour, Connecticut, spearheaded the event with dealers from many locations.
To ensure professional installation and superior service we carefully created an international network of over 350 trusted basement contractors.
