Crawl space encapsulation can prevent issues like mold, musty odors, and damaged insulation related to crawl space moisture. Adding a vapor barrier to the crawl space floor and walls helps keep moisture out of the crawl space. The CleanSpace vapor barrier is a 20-mil, 7-layer polyethylene liner that comes with a 25-year warranty against rips and tears. For more information on the CleanSpace vapor barrier and a free installation cost estimate, contact your local CleanSpace installer today.
Soggy, falling insulation is a sign of moisture damage or incorrect installation. Upgrading your crawl space insulation can help you improve your home’s energy efficiency and indoor air quality. If the crawl space is vented, your CleanSpace contractor will likely seal the crawl space, add rigid foam board insulation, and add a vapor barrier to the crawl space floor and walls. To learn more about the benefits of an insulated crawl space and the advantages of CleanSpace products, contact your local installer in Lafayette, IN today.
If you suffer from allergies or asthma, it's especially important to treat the air in your crawl space. Adding a dehumidifier is the best solution for treating the air in an encapsulated crawl space. The SaniDry dehumidifier is designed specifically for crawl spaces and basements. If you're interested in adding a dehumidifier in your crawl space, talk to your local CleanSpace professional today.

Comment: That was built on a block foundation in the 60s. There is an interior access to the original portion of the home, but one of the later additions to the home has an exterior access to the crawl space. The exterior access is a 1/4 metal sheet that covered the entrance and was half buried into the ground. The previous owners had the access all caulked up, but it had to be removed for the home inspection prior to us buying it. They just layed the metal sheet back over the hole and back filled the dirt. Since we live in the country, we've started getting mice in the house. I dug out the hole today. The hole in the block is approximately 36" wide by 22" tall. My intent was to reinstall the metal sheet and recaulk it, but discovered the metal sheet didn't even fit the hole all the way (thus allowing mice pretty free access to the house). There was also no insulation on the interior. While I'll only be able to jimmy-rig this to get through the winter, I would like to install a permanent upgrade for the future. .
