Our Service Person's Diagnosis
Positive diagnosis -- but he could not alleviate the fear of more malfunctions leading to flooding for the fourth or fifth time. The worst problem with TC Hafford is not being able to get service or advice from the company in a timely manner. Last time, when there was a concern because of alarms going off in the middle of the night, I had to wait from Friday night to Tuesday (Monday was a holiday) to reach someone by phone to help me. Meanwhile, I had to make countless trips to the basement day and night with a broken foot, to check on things myself and pray there was no flooding. Other times when there was flooding, the only reasonably timely help I could get was from the already busy city fire department, and one time, at midnight, when the pipe broke and water was continually gushing out on me as I attempted to stop it, I was finally lucky to find a plumber to come out and, at least, fix the PVC pipe to stop the gushing and flooding. (Not to mention all the carpets that have been ruined over time). When I installed the drainage system for my elderly mother after my dad passed away, it was supposed to be for her peace of mind, having a dry basement, and for the purpose of alleviating her need to occasionally mop up minor puddles and dampness on her own after my dad passed away. Of course, while it’s nice to have a dry basement, the fear of flooding from the system has proven to be much more stressful than the way it was before installation.
