I have been meaning to write this letter for some time and now, following one of the wettest seasons we have had in a long time, I decided now is the time to write. We purchased our home in 1997. We had been informed that there were no wet basement issues by the sellers. This was true the first summer we lived here and we were very pleased. We had moved from a home, which had us constantly monitoring our basement. So, when we moved here and had one season behind us, dry - even with some heavy downpours, we made plans for finishing our current basement. Well, our joy turned to disbelief when the following spring we began to take in some water. The amounts varied with the inches that fell. We were constantly in our basement using our wet-vac and sucking water. We had several fans running to aid in the drying process. It was very disheartening. We dealt with this for another four years and we were at our wits end. Then we attended a show at the Metrodome. We stopped at the booth for Complete Basement Systems and visited, asked questions and took brochures home with us. My husband was the most interested while I was very skeptical.
My husband and I discussed our future here in the home we loved if we didn't have something done which would alleviate our wet basement issues. I won't pretend that I was fully sold on the process. It would require some prep work in moving everything away from the exterior walls. Following the work, we would have to move everything back. IT WAS SO WORTH IT!!!!! We had the work done in March of 2002. We have not had a drop of moisture come into our basement now. We continued to keep the old sump pump system in place and added a new sump pump in the opposite end of the basement. It even has an alarm on it to let us know if for some reason there was a malfunction. After running two small dehumidifiers for several years, we added a SaniDry dehumidifier and since that, our basement has a constant humidity of 38-40% and the new one is much more energy efficient to run. We are on an annual maintenance plan where our system is all checked over each year to be sure everything is in perfect working order.
We can't say enough about how truly happy we are that we invested in this system and are very grateful that we stopped at the CBS booth that day. That is the main reason we are still living in the home we love. Each day my husband goes down to the basement and does a walk through (out of habit, not necessity) and comes up to me and says, "The good news is that the basement is still dry." We are VERY satisfied customers!!
Sincerely,
