Comment: I just purchased a new home. I have been monitoring RH% in home after it felt humid. It was sitting high around 60% with no rain; higher with rain. I purchased a dehumidifier and it will creep back up if I turn it off for too long. I then went to my crawlspace to investigate. Found that the plastic lining was ripped during some repairs. There was standing water, about a few cups worth here or there. There was wet clay on top of the plastic. RH% was reading 77% in crawl space 84% outside at 60deg outside temp. It was 2 days after a heavy rain, and some days of low humidity. I would be looking to get the crawlspace looked at for repairs in possible cracks and the plastic replaced potentially to avoid too much moisture that could lead to mold and other damages.
