  My house is over 100 years old. Bricks in the basement walls are disintegrating in a couple of places. The kitchen is an addition at the rear of the house with a crawl space under it. Plumbing located in the crawl space has just frozen and burst, and there is a crack in the drainage pipe. The crawl space is poorly insulated and poorly closed off. It has a dirt floor, I believe fiberglass insulation, and is only sealed from the outside by a piece of cardboard with bricks piled in front of it. It is currently very difficult to access -- previous owners built a deck on back of the house, and you have to crawl under the deck about 15 feet to reach the entrance to the crawl space.

  Moisture in crawl space may be causing cupping of hardwood flooring above. Crawl space has a concrete floor and block foundation walls. French drain was installed about 7-8 years ago and no signs of water leakage since then. Hardwood floors installed in the spring and are showing signs of cupping. Floor above crawl space has fiberglass insulation in it.
