The dirty old insulation shows how dirt and allergens had been able to come into the crawl space from the open vents. The insulation acted like a filter and collected it all, turning it from bright pink to dark.
Open air vents in a crawl space allow external weather, dust and allergens to impact the condition inside.
Our crew here has dug into the basement floors to create a channel to run the Water Guard system in.
Moisture and humidity was running throughout this old dirty crawl space.
Dirt floors, stone foundation walls and open air vents. Uncontrolled air and temperatures were impacting the comfort in the living areas above the crawl space.
Covered and sealed floors will keep moisture below. Insulated walls with help keep this space conditioned as the homeowners want it to be.
The old materials in the crawl space were not helping to keep the space dry or insulated.
This open vent was allowing uncontrolled air to move in and out of the crawl space.
