Crawl Space Door

Before and after look of crawl space door

Wood crawl space doors will not last long on a home.  As the elements continue to batter them with rain, heat, sunlight, cold, and all the forces of nature, they quickly break down.  As they do, mold, and rot will begin to destroy them while the paint suffers from the sun and moisture causes them to warp and buckle.

While it might not be entirely important to the homeowner how this small part of the home looks (because it WILL be an eyesore), there's no denying the damage it does to the home's structure and energy efficiency.  In the summer, a poorly sealed crawl space door will allow hot, humid air into the space, which will then encourage growth of mold and rot that will damage all wood in the area, including wood and support beams.  As hot air rises in the home, this moldy air that's ridden with dust mite waste will rise up into the main area of the home and add an enormous amount of odors and allergens to the home.  The moisture will also soak any crawl space insulation, weighing it down with water, ruining its insulative quality, and eventually causing it to fall down to the crawl space floor.

In the winter, a poorly sealed crawl space door will allow cold air into the crawl space.  This cold air will cool hot water pipes, heating vents, hot water heaters, and the floorboards of the first floor.  Humidity entering will not be the issue it is in the summer, but you will be paying in utility bills to combat this cold air.

The EverLast Crawl Space Door is made completely of inorganic material that is waterproof and resistant to mold growth. It just looks so much better than deteriorating wood doors, and it will never rot, rust, or need paint.  Made of a half-inch-thick solid plastic with a special airtight foam seal, it's designed to seal off the crawl space from the outside elements to keep your area more protected from outside humidity and cold. The EverLast crawl space door will do the job that wood doors just can't.
