Our mission is to make large positive outcomes with leading efficiency. SoldierStrong transforms the lives of injured veterans by providing cutting-edge medical technology, rehabilitation access and education otherwise unavailable to them. Roughly 340,000 post-9/11 veterans suffer from traumatic brain and/or spinal injury, yet some of the world's most cutting- edge devices that can help them walk again simply aren't covered. That's where we come in.
"DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) and other government sponsored programs are ensuring our soldiers have the best possible equipment on the battlefield, but when they return, that level of technological commitment doesn't exist." [Former Congressman, SoldierStrong Advisory board member, Jon Runyan]
We've partnered with innovative, America-base brands to bring elite rehabilitation technology to veterans around the country. Our "SoldierSuit" consists of a number of advanced robotic prosthetics and rehabilitative devices. From hi-tech exoskeleton devices-helping veterans with spinal injuries to stand and walk, to Biom robotic legs help them regain lost mobility. And, because of the generous support of our donors, we've been able to provide more than 25,000 veterans access to these incredible technologies in among other places, 12 veterans' hospitals around the country and counting.
In addition, our SoldierScholar program provides both real-world work experience and scholarship opportunities with an emphasis on those looking to continue life in public service. So far, we've provided more than $350,000 worth of scholarships, ensuring that any tuition gaps in Post-9/11 GI Bill funding are filled, and our heroes continue to get the opportunities they deserve. More than 80% of supporter funds raised go directly toward our missions.
