We sent an inspector to Betty’s home and recommended encapsulating the crawl space. Encapsulation would prevent moisture from weakening the joists, beam and subfloor. Betty had the work done and was thrilled to protect her home!

This homeowner called Lowcountry Foundation Repair to have SmartVents installed for the insurance benefit, as the home was located in a lower elevation flood zone. Upon inspection of the crawlspace, there was also a moisture issue that would slowly rot the wood foundation if left untreated. The homeowner was pleased with the solution provided of an encapsulation of the crawlspace, sealing out the harmful moisture from the space.

There was an existing dehumidifier and plastic barrier in the crawl space, but the barrier was not sealed and the dehumidifier was constantly running, too weak to effectively dehumidify the space.
