The owner of this home in Virginia, MN was getting ready to create additional living spaces in their basement. However, they needed to first fix the leaking and foundational issues in the basement before doing so. An ad on TV sparked the owner to make a call to DBS in hopes of finding a solution to both of their issues.
Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo went out to the property to conduct a free no-obligation estimate of the problems. After completing a thorough inspection, he suggested solutions by DBS that would solve both issues. For the foundational issue, Henrik recommended the PowerBrace™ Wall Bracing System solution. The PowerBrace™ Wall Bracing System would permanently stabilize the walls once properly installed and ensure that no additional cracking or bowing would occur. As for the leaking issue, he recommended installing WaterGuard® Drain System and SingleSafe™ sump pump.
A DBS Foreman led the installation of this project with the help of a crew. Together they installed 13 PowerBrace™ I-beams to help support cracked and leaning walls in the basement. They also installed the WaterGuard® Drain System around the perimeter of the basement and directed the drains so they empty out into a SingleSafe™ sump pump for the water to be expelled up and away from the foundation through a discharge line. In the winter, an IceGuard® with perforations in it will allow for water to escape in case the discharge line freezes over.
Now that the home has been properly waterproofed and permanently stabilized, the owner can go about remodeling the basement to accommodate for more living space. They will be able to finally relax comfortably in their healthy, dry, and safe basement.
