Our clients faced water infiltration issues due to a hill behind their house and a pool with a retaining wall. Heavy rains and rising water tables flooded the mulch beds, causing water to seep beneath the pool liner and into the basement. Unsure if the retaining wall needed replacement, they also had a leaking Egress Window.
To address the problem, we excavated around the foundation, removed the Egress Window, and constructed a new footing. After installing a frame for a new door, we applied a comprehensive waterproofing system and installed a Schedule 35 pipe for gravity discharge. Finally, we waterproofed the interior of the foundation.
Since completion, the homeowners haven't experienced any water penetration issues. They're pleased with the investment in their home and resolution of the problem.
When this homeowner reached out to us, they were facing significant settlement issues with their home. The root of the problem? Their foundation had been poured in separate sections, without proper reinforcement. This not only compromised the stability of their home but also led to water penetration issues and a musty smell seeping upstairs from an unfinished area.
We knew this project would require a comprehensive solution, so we got to work. First, we removed the old, deteriorating supports and replaced them with our state-of-the-art SmartJacks. These galvanized steel supports are designed to resist moisture and provide long-lasting stability.
Next, we dug down the dirt floor to install our WaterGuard new slab system, addressing the water infiltration issue. But we didn’t stop there. Knowing the foundation’s weak points, we excavated around the exterior to install pre-construction Stabil-Loc push piers. These piers were tied into number 8 rebar and connected to the foundation, providing the much-needed strength the original construction lacked.
With everything in place, we formed around the piers and rebar, both inside and outside, and poured concrete to create a strong, unified bond. Finally, we ground down the walls and applied SRS carbon fiber strips, ensuring the walls would remain stable and secure for years to come.
The transformation was remarkable. The homeowner was thrilled with the outcome, grateful that they addressed the issue before it became an even bigger headache. Thanks to our work, their home now boasts restored structural integrity and, most importantly, peace of mind.
This homeowner contacted Basement System of New York because they had a local contractor sister their floor joists, as well as shimmed their support beams. In theory, everything should have been level, unfortunately to their dismay, their floors still continued to sag and sink in several areas.
To take care of the issues at hand, we first started by removing the old fiberglass insulation from their floor joist for our new support systems. Once this was completed we installed twenty-four feet of four-inch I-beams on each side of their old main girder for supplemental floor support, along with five of our SmartJack support systems with pre-cast footings. We then replace their old main girder with a new triple two by ten girder with five SmartJack support systems with pre-cast footings. Finally, before encapsulating the crawl space in our drain mat with CleanSpace and applying three inches of Closed-Cell spray foam on walls and box beam we lifted, leveled, and fully supported the home.
In performing this project, we were able to make this home structurally sound and comfortable home again. More importantly than anything, we were able to restore peace of mind to the homeowners. They could not be happier with the result of their project and how much more comfortable their home now feels thanks to the work that we completed.
These homeowners' dream of owning a cabin on the mountainside in Big Indian, New York, turned into a nightmare when they discovered worrisome structural issues. Fearful that their beloved home might eventually slide off the mountain due to poor construction, soil degradation, and water erosion, they sought professional assistance.
Upon inspection, we identified critical problems caused by the failing block piering system. To secure the safety of our team, we initiated temporary support for the cabin before commencing work. Our first step was the meticulous removal of the old block piers.
To ensure a lasting solution, we dug deep into the earth to create solid footings for our SmartJack systems. These sturdy poured footings were strategically placed at the front and center of the cabin, providing strong bases for the SmartJack installations.
In addition, we addressed the issue at the very back of the crawl space by replacing their old main girder with a new triple main girder. This is supported by our SmartJacks, this reinforced girder significantly improved the overall stability of the cabin.
The threat of water penetration was also eliminated by pouring a robust concrete wall at the back of the crawl space. This proactive measure ensured that the homeowners' cherished abode would remain safeguarded from future water-related damages.
Since the completion of this transformative project, the homeowners have experienced a remarkable improvement in their cabin's structural integrity. The SmartJack systems and reinforced girders have provided unprecedented stability, putting their worries to rest.
Our dedicated efforts not only saved their home from potential disaster but, more importantly, restored the homeowners' peace of mind. With confidence in their cabin's structural reliability, they can now fully enjoy their mountain retreat without fear or apprehension.
