When a family member has asthma, air quality becomes a big concern. This family had worked to create a healthy space in their home, but knew to truly make the space healthier they needed some below grade work. Their crawlspace needed a new vapor barrier every two years as humidity issues would seep through and cause mold growth to occur. While they were on top of treating this, it was a lot of upkeep. To find a long term solution they reached out to John's Waterproofing. We did a full encapsulation, radon mitigation, and the homeowners purchased an Aspen air purifier. Even though the project was only completed a few weeks ago, they have called to say they can already tell that the new system has made a positive change!
This homeowner had their crawlspace encapsulated, and to help the job suit their homes needs, they opted to have the space air sealed instead of applying spray foam to the entirety of the foundation walls. Air sealing keeps critters and bugs from creeping into the space, and keeps water and cool drafts from entering the space.
This home's old insulation was a mess, it was damp and drooping. The home's heating and cooling costs kept going up. To address these issues, the homeowners called up John's Waterproofing. We scheduled their free inspection and went out to help. We ended up doing a full encapsulation. This includes TerraBlock insulation along the dirt floor, SilverGlo along the walls, and Spray From to air seal and insulate the foundation between joists.
The customer's grandkids were having allergen issues when coming over to visit. We did a full encapsulation of the crawl space and cleaned up all traces of mold. Leaving the customer with a healthier and allergen-free crawl space.
Every winter this homeowner would turn on her heat but it never seemed to get warm and stay warm. This was very frustrating because heating costs add up very quickly. She called us to have an inspector come out and take a look at the problem. A lot of the air escapes the ducts and goes straight out of the crawlspace, sucking the heat out of your home. Our inspector recommended a crawlspace encapsulation system to seal it in and keep heat in the home. Our crews went out and removed all debris and the old vapor barrier. They replaced it with our CleanSpace vapor barrier that is 20 mils thick and made of woven fiber plastic. The vapor barrier is installed all the way up to the sill plate of the home giving complete coverage. This homeowner was so glad when the job was finished and loved the clean look. By next winter she had noticed a significant decrease in her heating and cooling bills.
