When water seeps into the crawl space and gets stuck, the water evaporates into the air and humidifies the basement.
This is the case of our client’s crawl space in Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, that had a 79% level of humidity in the place, in addition to a wet and dirty area all the time.
Our team recommended a waterproofing solution and that would solve the problem of infiltration of water and moisture.
We installed the WaterGuard Interior Drain on the perimeter where there was a footing at the foundation and covered the concrete walls with the CleanSpace vapor barrier membrane that blocks moisture.
The foundations of this crawl space at Wentworth were threatened by moisture that damaged organic foundations such as pillars and wooden beams. The wet spaces are a favorable place for the proliferation of molds and bacteria.
Water vapor and mold damage organic foundations and put your home at risk, without noticing the harmful effects they can also have on the quality of the air you breathe.
To solve the problem, we installed galvanized steel support pillars and joists that are not affected by moisture and bacteria. They stabilize the house structure once and for all.
We also installed the CleanSpace membrane that blocks water vapor so that the crawl space does not become wet than the acceptable and recommended rate.
Thus, the space is drier and healthier, the structure is protected and restored and the space becomes usable, which brings value to the house!
This crawl space in Ile-Perrot was wet and in a bad condition.
After our inspection, we offered the perfect solution consisting of a CleanSpace crawl space mat, the CleanSpace vapor barrier, and the SmartSump sump pump system for small crawl spaces.
When we install these products together, the water is directed to the sump pump system that evacuates it away from the foundation. In addition, the membrane prevents water vapor from passing through the foundation and humidifying the space.
Our client from Saint-Urban-Premier called us regarding his damp crawl space.
This crawl space was so damp; the main beam was so wet and rotting so badly and became so loose due to moisture presence. It also had large mold growing all over it.
We knew right away that his place needs to be stabilized, so we suggested installing our SmartJack system which is a high-capacity, fully-adjustable steel pier, designed to stop settling and can raise your sagging floor back to the proper level.
In addition we suggested the installation of our CleanSpace vapor barrier that prevent moisture elevation and mold growth.
After the installation, this crawl space couldn’t be healthier and our client was very satisfied with the results.
PROBLEM
There were water infiltrations from the damp ground, which facilitated the appearance of several mold stains. Our specialist Jennifer took care of the visit. By descending into the crawlspace, she identified excessive moisture, causing an unpleasant odor. Subsequently, she elaborated in detail on the solution, which consists of encapsulating the crawlspace to eliminate harmful moisture and prevent further structural damage that could even affect the foundation of the house.
SOLUTION
The encapsulation of the crawlspace consists of covering the floor with a drainage membrane and a vapor barrier above:
The drainage matting features a dimpled surface that helps channel infiltrated water towards the drainage or sump pump.
The vapor barrier prevents the evaporation of infiltrated water, thus eliminating excessive moisture. It also includes an antimicrobial additive to prevent mold growth.
To ensure proper thermal insulation of the crawl space walls, we installed SilverGlo wall insulation panels. In addition to resisting thermal conduction, the SilverGlo panels have a radiant barrier that reflects heat back into the crawl space for energy savings.
We installed our SmartSump sump pump system with the powerful Zoeller pump and the WaterWatch alarm, which helps prevent disasters.
