This homeowner called All-Dry just in time! Their home had several issues that needed to be addressed sooner, rather than later. They had problems from sagging floors, to a damp crawlspace. In order to correct these problems, our Service Design Specialist recommended several products like; CleanSpace Liner, SmartJacks, Drain tile, a SmartSump, and several other products. While the only product you will see in these pictures is the CleanSpace, several other products were installed to either solve other problems or to assist CleanSpace in its job to keep water and moisture out of the CrawlSpace. If you would like to see a few other pictures from this job, click here.
The "before" photo shows what the crawlspace looked like upon our initial inspection. While we have definitely seen worse crawlspaces, it was not in the greatest condition. While looks do not always matter when something looks as good as CleanSpace AND can provide much better protection you can not help but think that looks do matter!
The "after" picture shows the crawlspace after our products had been installed. However the only product that is actually visible is the CleanSpace. You can see just how big of a difference it made though. One small, but important detail is the covered vents. You can not actually see the sealed vents in the after photo, but they are very obvious in the before photo. Vents let outside air in, which is something that we definitely do not want, the difference in air temperatures and relative humidity can cause condensation to form, which brings even more water into the crawlspace.
Our All-Dry of the Carolinas team was able to solve this problem by using a series of our watering proofing technology. Our crew installed a CleanSpace liner, sump pump, and dehumidifier. When encapsulating the crawlspace with CleanSpace, it seals the area to keep moisture from creeping up from the ground and causing damage to your foundation. A dehumidifier was placed in the crawlspace as a solution to the humidity that is produced from the pipes under your house. A SumpPump is to flush out entering water and excess water from the dehumidifier from the crawlspace. Together with all these tools, the crawlspace is completely protected from moisture.
Looking into this crawlspace in Blacksburg, SC is enough to scare anyone. Not only is it dark and dirty, but the house is barely being held up. Cinderblocks and bricks is what this house was relying on to stay afloat. Installation hung from the ceiling and littered the floor, along with old piping that looks hazardous to be around. Water was seeping through the walls, causing damage and high moister levels. With all this going on, one might run screaming at the mess, but not our All-Dry of the Carolina’s Team! We were able to solve the problem with a combination of our waterproofing technology and foundation repair systems.
When it comes to your crawlspace, protecting it from water build up is very important. This crawlspace in Blacksburg, SC was experiencing water puddling around the perimeter causing high levels of moisture. When water puddles in the crawlspace is can cause damage to the foundation, ruin insulation, and mold, mildew, and decay.
In this specific case, the puddling water had caused mold to begin to grow around the crawlspace. To fix this issue our All-Dry of the Carolinas team used Mold-X Cleaner was cleaning the contaminated mold surfaces in the crawlspace. Mold-X’s purpose is to remove and reduce staining from mold, mildew, dirt, soil, and other organic debris from surface areas in the crawlspace. Our team then placed CleanSpace in the crawlspace, wrapping it around the walls, floor, and piers. CleanSpace is a 20 mil tick liner that is laid across the crawlspace floor and wrapped around walls and piers. This liner works as a barrier to keep moister that is produced from the ground out of the crawlspace. In addition to the CleanSpace a SuperSump was added to the crawlspace as a way of pushing excess water that enters from outside. The SuperSump works in coordination with the Aprilaire, a dehumidifier which is used to collect extra moister that is produced under your home. The moister collected from the dehumidifier is then drained into a condensate pump which then pumps the water from the crawlspace. With all of these products All-Dry of the Carolinas was able to completely waterproof this crawlspace!
This crawlspace was suffering from a case of water intrusion. Fortunately, this crawlspace did not have it very bad, only enough that further postponing of getting a vapor barrier installed would begin to cause more serious problems. So for that reason, they decided on having All-Dry of the Carolinas encapsulate their crawlspace. A decision that they will never regret.
The "before" picture shows the crawlspace before any work was done to it. While definitely not in bad condition, there are some signs of water intrusion. The most obvious sign is on the left wall, there are actually damp (the darker) areas on the wall, there are also mineral deposits on the wall, which shows that water has come in through the wall and evaporated.
The "after" photo shows the finished product. The transformation that this crawlspace has gone through is incredible. It almost doesn't look like the same area. The CleanSpace does not just stop at the floor however, it is laid all the way up the wall. This keeps the vents from bringing in "bad" air into the crawlspace and continuing to cause moisture and humidity problems.
