This homeowner recently purchased this home and had mold removed from the crawl space. He wanted to find a solution to prevent mold from returning. One of our System Designs Specialists, Darrin, inspected the crawl space and found evidence of moisture issues. Moisture issues in the crawl space can lead to mold growth not only in the crawl space, but throughout the entire home. Moisture in the crawl space can also lead to musty odors, cupping hardwood floors, increased allergies/asthma while at home, and sticking doors and windows. The only way to prevent these issues from occurring in a pier and beam home is to have a crawl space encapsulation system installed.
Our Production Team completed this job by installing a drainage matting, CleanSpace moisture barrier, sump pump, and dehumidifier. They also closed off all outside air to the crawl space by sealing all vents and block walls. This turned the wet crawl space into a dry, conditioned area.
