Moisture in your crawl space can have negative effects on your foundation. Encapsulating your crawlspace doesn't only protect from microbial growth but can protect your foundation from damages!
This homeowner called DryZone wanting to seal her crawl space from the cold outside air. She was not aware of the condition of her crawl space but noticed her floors feeling cold in the winter months. A DryZone Design Specialist came to her home and noticed high moisture and some standing water. After encapsulating the crawl space, DryZone installed a dehumidifier and sump pump to keep groundwater moisture as low as possible.
Before selling the home, this homeowner wanted to help improve drainage and do some final repairs in the crawlspace. The wooden floor joists seemed to be rotting from high moisture. After making repairs to the floor joists, DryZone placed a drainage matting to newly leveled dirt, blocking out excess moisture and keeping groundwater drained.
Previously this crawlspace had a thing layer of plastic put down to protect it but this method is generally ineffective and will last a few years at most. To remedy this situation we replaced the plastic with CleanSpace which is significantly more durable and lasts much longer. The CleanSpace along with sealing the vents also helped with insulation allowing the removal of the old and decaying insulation they had previously had.
This Homeowner wanted to be safe in the knowledge that their retirement home would have no problems so they called the experts here at DryZone to come out and ensure it would last. The first step we took was shoring up parts of the foundation that had begun to sag and to do that we used SmartJacks which will raise the house to its previous height while preventing sinking in the future. The final step is the installation of CleanSpace which will keep the humidity low which will prevent any mold growth and wood rot.
To ensure professional installation and superior service we carefully created an international network of over 350 trusted basement contractors.
