Most crawl spaces have fiberglass insulation on the ceiling. The insulation itself is not as useful compared to encapsulating the crawl space, but when there is moisture in the crawl space, then it becomes entirely useless. In Owensboro, Kentucky, a homeowner had fiberglass insulation that was starting to droop or fall because there was moisture and humidity present. The homeowner decided to contact Healthy Spaces to come out and encapsulate the crawl.
To control the amount of water that came in through the dirt floor, a drainage matting it laid down to direct water flow towards the sump pump. Next, CleanSpace is sealed on the floor and walls to protect against water vapor. SilverGlow insulation in also been installed on the walls to add insulation. This system is effective at reducing energy costs. All fiberglass insulation is taken out and the new waterproofing system will prevent moisture from appearing again.
A homeowner in Bremen, Kentucky had noticed for some time that his foundation was settling. There were cracks on the outside of the home's foundation which indicated that it needed a permanent solution to stop the process from further damage to the home. What had caused the foundation to crack was the moisture in the wooden beams that held the floor up. One of the columns had thin wooden boards stuffed to keep the floor partly stable. The crawl space needed the foundation lifted and encapsulated.
One SmartJack was used to replace the concrete blocks and wooden boards that previously attempted to hold the foundation. Next, the CleanSpace and drainage matting combination is set to be completed. The drainage matting will catch water from the ground and store it in the dimples to prevent the CleanSpace that is installed on top from bubbling and flooding underneath. The water that does come through the dirt ground will be carried to the SmartSump. Once the home was stabilized and encapsulated, the homeowner was elated by the transformation.
Having a waterproofed crawl space means that you can have a worry-free mind every time it rains. A couple in Boonville, Indiana had reached out to Healthy Spaces after visiting one of our social media posts about crawl space encapsulation. The encapsulation had interested the couple in waterproofing their crawl. On the day of the inspection, there were signs of water coming into the crawl space and it was humid.
The two openings were tightly secured with new access well such as the EverLast crawl space door. To control the amount of water that came up through the dirt floor, the dimpled polyethylene membrane matting is sprawled out. The matting directs the water towards the sump which will then carry the water out and away from the home. CleanSpace is fastened to the upper parts of the walls and on top of the drainage matting. CleanSpace has multiple layers of plastic with different characteristics of flexibility and puncture and tears resistance. The dream of encapsulating the homeowners' crawl space had finally come true and we were happy to be a part of it.
This Shepherdsville, KY basement was experiencing flooding while a new Waterguard system was being installed. In order to keep the basement from fully flooding, the installation crew left the existing sump pump in place while completing the installation. In the first image, you can see the old sump pump had some definite design flaws. First, the sump pump discharge lines are bent, slowing the evacuation of water from the basement. Second, there isn't an airtight lid, which has lead to an increased relative humidity and higher risk of mold. The new Super Sump Pump system that you can see installed in the second image, has a straight discharge line, a powerful pump, and an airtight lid. Now that the new sump pump is in place, the old pump will be removed and the hold filled in.
"Our basement was a waste of square footage! With growing kids, I needed somewhere for them to hang out with their friends that wasn't right on top of each other. We decided to finish the basement".
This is a common situation for many homeowners in the Fort Knox area. Basements tend to be damp, moldy, and smelly. Thankfully, they don't have to stay that way! Healthy Spaces can transform an ugly waste of space into a beautiful addition to your home.
In this case, the homeowners had the basement stripped down, treated for mold and fungus, then elected to have Zen Wall panels installed because they will not mold or deteriorate. They also installed a Waterguard system to direct wall moisture and ground water into a sump pump system and discharge system for removal. The basement will be a cleaner, healthier place for the kids to hang out!
