Homeowner Larry D from Patoka, IN. struggled with the musty odors in his home. Every time he would walk in the front door, the smell would hit him out of nowhere. He decided to go straight to the source- his crawl space. He hadn't been down there for years, and he suddenly remembered why. There was water sitting at the bottom, and mold growth everywhere. He decided to turn the issue over to someone he knew could handle it, so he gave Healthy Spaces a call.

Design Specialist, Chris Russell, came out to inspect Larry's crawl space. After he was finished, they sat down together to discuss the plan of action. This crawl space majorly needed a mold remediation treatment. Any time there are damp, humid conditions in your basement or crawl space, there is potential for mold growth. Our remediation process includes removing all mold-damaged materials, drying out the basement or crawl space, and thoroughly cleaning all surfaces. He said it is what he calls a utility basement that covers the middle half of the house, so he decided to call in the experts at Healthy Spaces, and a Design Specialist came to his home to do an inspection. 

This homeowner took the wind right out of those worries with a perimeter drainage system called WaterGuard. Our amazing crews installed this system on the footing of the home by removing a small amount of concrete around the base of the basement wall. The drain is put in place and the concrete is replaced aside from the small gap seen along the perimeter. A TripleSafe sump pump is then installed to take the water from the WaterGuard, outside, through the discharge line. 

Check out this transformation! Before, these Fort Branch, IN homeowners had an open sump hole which was allowing moisture into their basement. On top of that problem, they were also having problems with their sump pump working correctly, especially during heavy rains and storms. 

With the help of System Design Specialist, Scott Schaum, they have an upgraded TripleSafe Sump Pump system to keep their home healthy. With this sump pump, they essentially have three sump pumps in one sump liner. They now also have an airtight sump lid to prevent water from evaporating into the basement and debris from clogging it. It also has a pump alarm to alert you if your sump pump had failed and your basement was in danger of being flooded. A backup battery is included as well. It kicks in if the power goes out, which is perfect for a big storm with heavy rains and other emergencies.
