Problems with water coming in a corner of the basement everytime a heavy rain happened would have these homeowners putting towels down, running fans, anything to dry it up until it would happen next time.
Brett & Christel had enough with this problem and wanted it solved once and for all. They had called us a couple of times for an appointment to address the problems with water. Getting the pre-appointment information gave them a lot to think about and consider to do this properly and can be a costly repair on top of the addition plans to make a livable space in the basement.
When we inspected the basement, our System Design Specialist noticed signifigant foundation movement. About 2" of the block walls had bowed inward. Very possibly a cause to some of the water problems they have had.
What causes a foundation to crack is due to moisture and frost that interact with the soil around your home which expands. That expansion results in constant inward force on your foundation wall until it can no longer support the pressure, causing cracking, bowing and tipping.
Water seepage through walls, floor/wall joint is the same, hydrostatic pressure. Floor and wall water seepage is quite common.
Our solution to solve our customers water and foundation problems involved installing our patented WaterGuard Drainage System, CleanSpace Wall System, SuperSump Pump and PowerBrace Foundation System.
Bowed and cracked foundation wall for our customer in Avoca, MN. Our crew leader installed zinc coated, steel I-beams to support the block foundation wall.
This homeowner had block walls in the basement that were bowing. They were concerned that if they let it get too much worse they would end up with major foundation issues. Which is a completely valid concern. If not corrected, the walls can bow to the point that they collapse. Obviously, this is a major structural issue. Our PowerBrace System is a series of beams that are custom fit to your basement. They are designed to be tightened over time to actually push the walls back to their upright position.
Let us help your bowing walls with our patented PowerBrace System. Give us a call today to set up an inspection with our Certified Design Specialist.
This homeowner was referred to us by a trusted friend. She had leaning and bowing walls in the basement, with a lot of cracking. Cracking in a block wall is a sign that the wall is moving. When your basement walls are moving, there is a danger of structural failure as the wall can eventually collapse in.
We knew our PowerBrace System was a great fit for her issues. We measure the wall height of your basement and cut the PowerBrace beam to fit. The bottom of the beam is then anchored to the floor. We install a top bracket to the first-floor framing, and secure the beam. Over time, the beams can be tightened to straighten the wall over time.
Our crew can install PowerBraces year round, and generally complete the project in just a day or 2. There is a product warranty as well as our service warranty to give you all the peace of mind we can.
Give us a call at 1-800-638-7048 if you would like us to inspect your walls to make sure you aren't at risk for structural damages.
