This homeowner hated how dirty her crawlspace was because it was started to smell and stink up the whole house! She gave us a call and knew from the minute our System Design Specialist Josh Krestine walked in the door with a smile on his face and wanting to just help out with whatever he could that she wanted to work with us. Josh spoke with the homeowner about the problems she was experiencing, then he went down to the crawlspace and determined the source of her problems. He found what water and moisture was flowing under the foundation walls and releasing water vapor into the crawlspace. After seeing this, Josh worked the homeowner into the schedule for installation quickly so that she wouldn't need to deal with this foul smell for much longer. Our installation team came out to the home in just 1 day and they used a CleanSpace Vapor Barrier along with drain matting to help keep water down and out of the crawlspace. The homeowner was so happy with her newly refreshed home and she can't wait to use her space as storage too. Check out her crawlspace transformation!
This homeowner noticed a sagging floor in their home after living there for a few years. As the years passed, they noticed the problem had become noticeably worse and it raised some real concerns. Ultimately, the homeowner decided to fix the problem before it got worse and became too far gone, so they called us.
We sent System Design Specialist Nick Tiberghien to inspect the crawl space and determine the cause and solutions for this homeowner's sagging floor. Nick noticed that there was a large gap between the baseboard and the floor, and that you would feel the cooler air coming from the crawlspace. He determined that there was a lack of support underneath the floor due to the high moisture content that weakened the floor supports. Reassuring the homeowners that this was a fixable issue, Nick and his team got right to work on installing SmartJacks to stabilize the floors and lift them to their original position. After this, they installed a SmartSump to control the soil moisture and a CleanSpace vapor barrier to help reduce the humidity caused by water in the air.
The homeowner was happy that the floors were able to be raised and that the water issue was addressed. Check out this homeowner's crawl space restoration!
Our customer in Aurora, MO was noticing high humidity levels in their crawlspace and needed to get the problem solved before they got mold or any other structural issues began to happen. They called Thrasher to come out and help them with the problem and determine the cause and our solutions.
After Inspection, the team noticed the sump pump they had installed previously was barely working and not collecting any water causing the high humidity in the crawl space. The crew removed the old pump and properly installed our TripleSafe sump pump in the space. The TripleSafe sump pump is composed of three separate pumps protecting the space from water and safely flowing it away from the crawl space, solving humidity issues, and protecting the home from future potential damages.
Nasty Kansas City CrawlSpace Transformed
Andy O. became intimately aware of indoor air quality when his wife was diagnosed with lung cancer. Since her diagnosis she has endured breathing problems that make this a frequent topic in their home. Andy knew that radon gas was more likely to enter a home through a dirt crawlspace and that higher humidity levels would contribute to mold growth and other allergens that can make breathing harder.
After researching solutions online, Andy decided to get several estimates to improve the crawlspace in his Kansas City home in hopes of improving the air quality throughout the house. He knew that there was a thin black plastic liner on the dirt floor, but also knew that it had holes, wasn’t sealed at the seams, and didn’t allow for storage. Most of the insulation had fallen from the ceiling and definitely wasn’t doing any good.
Several contractors looked at the crawlspace and decided that it was too messy for them. Andy wanted the fallen insulation and old flimsy plastic liner removed before the new liner was installed. Several contractors were not interested in removing and hauling away those items. He needed to be sure that the job was done right so that his wife could breathe more easily in their home.
Durable Crawl Space Liner Provides an Air Barrier and Clean Storage Space
Ultimately, Andy chose to work with Thrasher Foundation Repair after meeting with Ryan Galt and finalizing a plan. A crew of three performed all of the work in one day. First the old insulation, thin plastic, and other debris were removed and hauled away. Next, a drainage matting was placed on the dirt floor to create an insulation barrier, provide a drainage area for water, and to make the final floor softer to crawl on. Next, a 12-mil polypropylene liner was installed on the crawl space walls and floor. The liner is cord-reinforced and comes with a 25-year tear-free warranty. All the seams are sealed so that the entire home is sealed off from the earth. This prevents moisture and soil gases like radon from easily entering the home.
Once the work was complete the crawl space was clean, bright, and suitable for storage. Andy and his wife are pleased with the result, and look forward to the improved air quality in their home.
This homeowner was experiencing problems with water in her basement, and the noticed a musty smell start to develop. After looking around for who could help her, she gave us a call for a free estimate.
We sent System Design Specialist Jimmy Hungerford to inspect the basement and determine where the water was getting in, as well as where the smell was coming from. Jimmy found that water was coming in the because of hydrostatic pressure against the foundation wall. The pressure forced water into cracks and weak spots in the foundation. The water then traveled through the drywall and onto the floor which also caused mold to grow behind the homeowner's drywall. Jimmy discussed the problem with the homeowner then demonstrated what solutions would fix this, and the homeowner couldn't wait to see what her finished product would look like. Our team used a TripleSafe Sump Pump System as well as WaterGuard Interior Drainage System and CleanSpace Vapor Barrier to give water a proper drainage path and to seal off the moisture in the air. These systems will also help to prevent water from pooling in the basement in the future, as well as prevent mold from growing in the drywall.
The homeowner was quite pleased with her new waterproofing systems. Check out her new interior basement systems!
