This customer was experiencing damp floors and walls caused by water seeping in from the ground outside. Our design specialist, David, put together a plan that involved using CleanSpace technology paired with drainage matting to keep the water out for good; freeing the space up, but more importantly, freeing the homeowner’s mind of any worries.
Homeowners in Summit, NY had a damp crawlspace and were looking for a solution to create a clean and dry environment beneath their house. After the homeowners called Adirondack Basement Systems to set up their free estimate, Design Specialist Jon Roz came to inspect their crawlspace and recommended the perfect products. Foreman Austin and his crew installed CleanSpace vapor barrier to cover the dirt floors and blocked foundation to prevent moisture from accumulating. A SmartDrain was also installed so that if there are any future plumbing leaks, homeowners will be alerted and can get the issue fixed rather than not knowing due to water previously soaking into the dirt floor. Lastly, they chose to have one of our patented SaniDry Sedonas installed to keep the air dry and free of mold and mildew.
This customer was dealing with a number of issues with their crawlspace that, unfortunately, naturally come with having the older stone brick foundation model. With significant flooding, cracking walls, and a dipping, crumbling ceiling, there was no other choice but to take measures to repair and prevent the damage from getting worse. What ended up being mapped out as the proper course of action was a complete overhaul of the crawlspace, addressing each problem head on.
Starting with the water, once the area was cleared away and dried, our installation team went in and set up a well-rounded system to combat any future flooding. The big piece to this puzzle is the TripleSafe Sump System equipped with all the proper drainage and protection from the elements. The TripleSafe is the go-to sump pump when it comes to getting the water out and keeping it away for good. And with additions like the IceGuard, WaterWatch Alarm, and countless other specs, this product is strong, smart, and safe. To complete the waterproofing system, CleanSpace and drainage matting were installed to provide moisture protection.
As for the structural concerns, the big player on this front were the SmartJacks installed to take a good amount of the weight off the beams that were in place and give a boost to the foundation. To assist the walls and repair the cracks, CarbonArmor—a product comprised of material 10 times as strong as steel and flexible enough to mold to the wall—was used to reinforce the walls. And just to be safe, on top of all these products, an EverLast door and a Sanidry Sedona were added to keep the humidity to a minimum and the water yet another difficult obstacle to hurdle. All these products combine to transform this crawlspace into one that was on the ropes to one that is ready for anything Mother Nature decides to throw at it.
