Comment: I have a large cottage under which we put a new foundation and Iinsulated crawl space two years ago. No basement. I seal the vents inside with insulation board and outside with taped aluminum vent covers this time of year to prevent pipe freeze, since we use the cottage year round. Since crawl space is new it has average 3' clearance and is still fairly clean, but we had a sump pump wet well failure after a very heavy rain and unusually elevated groundwater for a very short period this year and had water in the crawl space. It's a crushed limestone and limestone bedrock crawl space floor. It's pretty dry now, but the floor covering is simply clear visqueen, seams not taped, and coverage could be better. No HVAC in crawl space - cottage has Hitachi heating/cooling splits powered by three outdoor inverters. Probably would benefit from a high capacity dehumidifier if I permanently seal vents?
