Damp Crawlspace Covered with CleanSpace in Williamston, SC

Transformations happen one step at a time. In the case of this Williamston, South Carolina crawlspace, transformations happen in stages. This is the striking first stage here pictured on the left. This is how it looked before our crew set to work. Water runs the length of the last liner. The earth beneath it pokes through its thinness. In that same image to the right, the dirt floor is completely exposed and wires fall along its surface. It’s ugly. It’s messy. And it isn’t helping anyone. This is a crawlspace in dire need of a savior. Take a look at the pipe further back into the picture. The liner that supposedly acts as a barrier is thrown over it. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to deduce that this liner is not secure in the least.

Move on to the right picture. Is it even the real space? Yes. Yes, it is. It’s brighter—cleaner. The floor as well as the wall is covered in our patented CleanSpace liner. This is a 20 mils thick, reinforced liner that is nearly impossible to tear. The material is even applied to the piers and supports to strengthen the seal. There’s nothing quite like it. Meanwhile, the space can also readily be used as a storage place, a capability it only recently achieved.  This, of course, is thanks to CleanSpace. What’s also particularly special about CleanSpace is that it acts as the barrier your home needs from the earth. There are no holes or slim openings. It is, quite literally, perfect for damp crawlspaces.

Williamston, SC Dirt Floor Crawlspace Covered with CleanSpace

Crawlspaces with a dirt floor are a magnet for water. Exposed earth carries with it water vapor and other natural gases you do not want floating throughout your home. Because of this, the crawlspaces are extremely humid which causes people to think to vent them. However, what a lot of people don’t realize is that the venting keeps the humidity exactly the same as it is outside. The problem here is that when it’s humid outside, the crawlspace will be humid as well. There’s no way to win.

This Williamston, South Carolina crawlspace was experiencing all of the above and more. The solution looks fantastic. Let’s zoom in on the “after” photo. What we have here is the complete install of CleanSpace a thick, 20mils liner we always use in crawlspaces. It acts as a barrier and shield from the earth. It’s white so you can instantly see how well the products are doing.

CleanSpace Installed in Williamston,SC

The strange thing about crawlspaces is that they are never contained in one place, but that is easy to forget. Disuse usually fades the problematic space from our minds, but it still exists and it still causes issues for the rest of the house.

Many crawlspaces look just like the one you see here in the “before.” The ground is exposed and there are vents that expose the crawlspace to the outside. Both of these factors contribute to a very bad crawlspace.

The “after” photo shows how this area is completely changed by our installation of CleanSpace. Not only does it cover the floors, but it is also installed over the walls as well.  The owners of this Williamston, South Carolina home came to us because of the high humidity in their crawlspace. We know for certain that the CleanSpace was able to cut down on more than half of the crawlspace’s problems.

Crawl Space Encapsulation

Our crew installed CleanSpace to encapsulate this crawl space for a homeowner in Buffalo, SC.

Pelzer, SC Has CleanSpace Liner Installed

This homeowner in Pelzer, South Carolina told our Design Specialist that they weren't experiencing any problems in particular, but felt that this was a good investment. And sometimes, that can be very true. Even if they weren't experiencing major issues, from the look of the crawlspace, this needed to be done anyway. Many crawlspaces have dirt floors, but many of those crawlspaces suffer from high humidity levels and moisture issues. This is because of the water vapor escaping into the crawlspace from the dirt. Not many people often thing about it, but water vapor, when let alone, can cause all sorts of problems. The moisture can rust cables, rest in wood, and welcome in an entire fleet of temites.

And so, to protect this space from future problems, we installed a CleanSpace liner. This is a 20 mils thick plastic material reinforced with polyester cords.  This material is perfect for keeping that moisture at bay and, thus, sealing the entire space. The finished product is pictured here in the after photo.
