This homeowner in Collinsville, VA called Fortress Foundation Solutions with concerns regarding the crawl space of their home. The homeowners began to notice that the floors in this home were sagging. After calling Fortress, we were able to send our System Designer to this home to provide a solution. After a close look at the issues at hand, the System Designer knew the best solution to fix the sagging floors was to install our SmartJack System. These SmartJacks help to add extra support to any floor joist or beams that may have failed. The System Designer also spoke with the homeowners about why a CleanSpace Encapsulation would be a smart decision.

Gerald T. reached out to Fortress Foundation Solutions after discovering standing water and moisture beginning to damage his wooden floor joists. Moisture-saturated insulation was also falling down in his crawl space. How could this be happening? He had laid down plastic over the ground and thought his crawl space would be protected. Many people don't think about the effects moisture has as it rises from the ground under their homes. If left untreated, the moisture will cause thousands of dollars' worth of damage in the future. Our Fortress System Designers help educate customers on protecting their home by providing printed materials, using video media, through conversation, and of course, providing a free estimate for repair. Gerald's crawl space needed EZ Flow drainage, a Smart Sump Sump Pump, CleanSpace Vapor Barrier, and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. EZ Flow directs groundwater to the Smart Sump, which pumps the water outside the home. The CleanSpace Vapor Barrier seals off the home from the damp/wet ground below. The SaniDry Sedona removes excess moisture, keeping the area dry and protecting the wood. Gerald's home is his biggest asset. This crawl space in Keene was leaking and moldy. The dirt floor was covered in a thin layer of plastic that did not stop water and mud from getting in. A homeowner near Brightwood, VA, noticed soft spots in the floor of the kitchen. They had recently remodeled it, replacing the original, outdated kitchen from the 80's. As concerns grew, they decided to call Fortress Foundation Solutions. A System Designer completed a free inspection of the home and noticed some issues with the crawl space. The new, all wood cabinets with heavy stone countertops put extra weight on the main beam. Moisture inside the crawl space contributed to weakening the wood and a crack was now apparent. This home needed SmartJacks. SmartJacks are adjustable, steel columns can be added under a main beam or in combination with a supplemental beam. They provide support and stability to the entire home. This repairs crooked and sinking floors, creating a level surface, adding extra support. Fortress fixed their sagging floors and now these homeowners have their dream kitchen with no more worries.
