This home in Upperville Virginia had a nasty crawl space. It was musty smelling and had mold present in the old insulation and around the crawl space ceiling. Our Certified Home Performance Sales Pro Eric was able to design a plan using the right products to help keep the unwanted water and moisture in the crawl space contained and to help improve the air quality in the home. The floors were insulated and covered with drainage matting and a vapor barrier. The support piers in the crawl space were sealed and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to remove moisture from the air. This will all help keep the crawl space drier, make the home more comfortable, and improve the air quality in the home.
In addition to reconditioning the inside of crawl spaces, we also focus on making sure that the access to them is suitable and functional. This crawl space had a piece of plywood covering the very raw entrance point. Our production crew built a frame in installed a new door that will stay closed and preserve the insulation and air sealing inside.
This Purcellville VA crawl space needed a full transformation to help improve the air quality of the home and rooms above, to better insulate the lower areas of the home and to control the unwanted moisture and water in the crawl space. Encapsulation of this crawl space was done by removing the existing insulation, using spray foam to insulate and air seal the rim joists of the home, laying Terra Block to cover the dirt floors and then covering the surfaces and walls with Clean Space. This all helps to reduce outside air and temperatures from impacting the crawl space and creates a barrier between the dirt floors and the rest of the home. A sump pump was installed to discharge any water collected out of the home.
This dirt floor crawl space was directly contributing to musty odors that the homeowners had noticed, as well as increased humidity in summer months. The solution to their problems was our CleanSpace encapsulation system, as well as spray foam application on joists and areas of air leakage.
This Hamilton VA crawl space was in need of a transformation. The existing treatments for water and insulation were not working. The crawl space had open vents and fiberglass insulation strips lining the ceiling. Open vents allow external air, allergens, dust and temperature fluctuations as well as moisture. Insulation strips dont properly insulate as they can allow air and temperature to move between them, up to the floors above. Our production crew removed the old insulation, sealed up the vents, attached Silver Glo Insulation panels to the walls of the crawl space, used Zyp Foam to air seal the panels and then applied Spray Foam to the rim joists of the home, sealing off any other external air and temperatures from outside.
