HomeSpec already had to repair damaged walls in this Saint Clair Shores, Michigan basement back in 2020 because they were severely cracked and bowing. Recently though, the homeowner Stephanie and her dad were removing wall panels from another room in the basement and found the same exact issues – bad water damage, bowing walls and large cracks in the blocks.
Foundation repair expert Ryan Loop and waterproofing foreman Jerry Blevins lead the crew to complete this repair. They stabilized and braced the foundation walls with the PowerBrace Wall Repair System and Carbon Fiber Straps. A WaterGuard Perimeter Drainage System (aka French Drain) was installed to curb the water intrusion. Sections of the walls were covered with our BrightWall Vapor Barrier Panels to insulate and direct water into the drainage system.
Stephanie and her father were once again very happy with the results of their newly repaired basement! They don't have to worry anymore about losing property value because of the damage or worry about the issues worsening.
A Saint Clair Shores, MI home was owned by former residents of the state. Because they still owned the home, they decided it would be a good idea for their father to move in; however, it would have to be repaired first. The floors were uneven, there were noticeable cracks, shifting, and water was causing damage. Unfortunately, it was not possible to tell the scope of the damage until the drywall was removed to reveal the foundation walls themselves. The homeowners called HomeSpec Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for an inspection and to discuss possible solutions.
The senior project manager, Zach, recommended stabilizing the walls with both GeoLock® Wall Anchor and PowerBrace™ Wall Repair System depending on the area of the basement. He also suggested waterproofing the walls to prevent further leaking and installing an interior drainage system made with WaterGuard® to route any water to a storm cleanout. The homeowners approved of these repairs and worked with the scheduling team to plan out the installations. The work was led by Brian V, Marshall, Rick F, Rick G, and Ryan. While the finished basement may have looked prettier before the repairs, the homeowners can rest easy knowing their father lives in a stable, secure, and dry environment.
These homeowners contacted HomeSpec about repairing the failing foundation of their 100-year-old home.
HomeSpec rebuilt some of the deteriorated blocks, then lifted the foundation and installed helical piers to stabilize the home.
This homeowner contacted HomeSpec because she had a vertical crack (shown in photo) in her foundation that was leaking.
She wanted it repaired from the outside, so our crew excavated that section of the wall and sealed the crack to waterproof and stabilized the foundation (shown in second photo). Once the dirt was filled back in, it looked good as new!
A stabilization system was installed on the walls of the basement. Our crew also installed an interior drainage system.
