When a homeowner from Cohasset, MN reached out to us here at DBS, they had a beaver system in place, and water continued seeping through their basement floor, making the idea of a dry, usable space seem like a distant dream. When our Design Specialist went out to the property, they meticulously examined the existing setup and found that the installation of our WaterGuard system, coupled with the TripleSafe Sump Pump and an IceGuard for added freeze protection, would turn the tide against their water woes. Our dedicated production team embarked on installing the WaterGuard along the perimeter of the basement, a solution ingeniously designed to capture floor and wall joint leaks. Central to the system, the SingleSafe Sump Pump was placed to ensure peace of mind during heavy downpours. Perhaps, the most gratifying for us was integrating the IceGuard system, a subtle yet potent line of defense against freeze-thaw cycles that can cripple the best-laid drainage plans in our cold Minnesota winters.
Owners of this family cabin in Remer, MN had grand plans to convert this space to their full-time home. After completing an add-on to this cabin originally built in the 90's, they noticed issues with the foundation's ability to keep out water. After meeting us at the Grand Rapids Home Show, they decided to tackle their water troubles with DBS.
Our Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the waterproofing work. It was determined that both internal and external systems for waterproofing were needed to protect this home.
DBS Foreman Nick Burley and his production crew installed the exterior waterproofing system. They first excavated soil around the cabin foundation, installed a french drain, as well as covered the foundation in our SentrySeal® waterproof membrane. After filling the drain trench with aggregate gravel, backfilling with soil, and tamping the ground, the exterior waterproofing was complete.
From there, DBS Foreman Taylor Allen and crew worked on the interior waterproofing job. The crew began by breaking out concrete to create a trench around the cabin's footing. Our WaterGuard® drain system was put into place and will effectively capture wall and floor seepage, directing it to a new DoubleSafe™ sump pump. The crew finished the job by burying the discharge line in the lawn away from the home.
This family can now rest easy knowing their favorite retreat will be protected for years to come.
