While these photos may not seem like this basement was in that bad of condition, a case study that was also done on this home will show you a much different story. Areas in this basement were starting to crumble because of how much water had been coming in and damaging the area. The sump pump that we installed will certainly help keep this area from flooding and causing problems.
The "before" picture shows an area that had been severely damaged by all of the water that had come through over the years. Interestingly enough, even though the homeowner had a sump pump, the damage and issues were not taken care of. This is because in most cases the problems won't go away just because there is a sump pump. The water can still raise the relative humidity level and begin to grow mold.
The "after" picture looks almost like a different home. The work that our crew was able to do in this basement was incredible. While the main focus of this post is the TripleSafe sump pump, you can also see the CleanSpace and the ThermalDry Flooring that we installed, both products that help to keep the water from staying in the basement. However, the TripleSafe is the best sump pump system that we have, and is called the TripleSafe because of its three separate pumps. One of these pumps runs on the DC power provided by the battery back-up, which you can also see in the after picture.
Basements can be dark, scary, and wet places, but they don't always have to be! Basements are much more likely to be affected by water intrusion because they are below grade and water can get into the basement through the floors and walls much easier. This can began to cause serious damage to different areas of the basement and be detrimental to the health of the home and any occupants.
The "before" picture shows what the crawlspace looked like when our System Design Specialist went out to the home to figure out what could be done to help this homeowner out. The photo gives a pretty good look at the condition of the basement in general. However in this photo there is quite a bit of water that has soaked into the floor near the back wall. This is a pretty clear indication of water intrusion, so our Specialist knew exactly what to do.
The "after" photo shows off the basement once the crew had began working on it. At this point in the installation process, three main products have been installed; WaterGuard, CleanSpace Liner, and ThermalDry. The CleanSpace liner is the white liner that can be seen going around the bottom of the wall, this helps to catch water and drain it to the WaterGuard. The WaterGuard then drains the water straight to the sump pump which pumps out the water. The last product that can be seen is the ThermalDry floor. This isn't a product we use too often, but it helps to serve as insulation for the floor.
The entrance of the crawlspace is just as important to maintain as the actual crawlspace. The door to your crawlspace is how everything gets in and out, humans and animals alike. In this Hiawassee, Georgia crawlspace there wasn’t even a door on their crawlspace entrance. But that wasn’t a problem for our All-Dry of the Carolinas team, once we were done with the inside of the crawlspace we added an EverLast door! This door will keep the elements out of the crawlspace!
This homeowner was quite put out with their basement. They were receiving random puddles and streams of water whenever there was a large down pouring. Nothing seemed to solve the problem. The water that managed to creep into the basement would leave behind patches of efflorescence, staining the floors.
In the “before” photo we have here, you can see the evidence of that water damage. To solve the water issue, our Design Specialist suggested WaterGuard to catch any water that may be coming in through the walls.
In the “after” photo, we’ve installed it. The dark stripe along the floor is where we’ve covered the piping system with cement. Once it dries, it will blend right in with the floor. The system itself is engineered not to sit in the dirt, so clogging from silt and sediment under the floor is not a problem. The special wall flange allows wall seepage to drain while keeping dirt/debris out.
With the install of this WaterGuard, this Duncan, South Carolina homeowner can say good-bye to water issues.
Water was getting into the basement in Greenville, SC by dripping down the walls and puddling in the floor. To solve this problem our All-Dry of the Carolinas team installed WaterGuard. WaterGuard was added around the perimeter of this basement, it intercepts the water and drains it unseen and safely into the SuperSump Pump where it is then flushed from the basement. WaterGuard is different because it is designed to not sit in dirt like most draining systems do. There is a special wall flange that creates space between the floor and wall allowing wall seepage to drain through the WaterGuard while keeping it away from the dirt. Since this type of drainage is separated from dirt, the chances of it clogging are nearly impossible! The WaterGuard directs the water to the SuperSump Pump where it is then flushed from the basement outside to the LawnScape outlet. All resulting in a dry basement!
In the “before” picture you see the basement floor before the WaterGuard is installed. WaterGuard is installed by digging a trench around the perimeter of the basement. Water is then flushed into the trench to test if water will flow smoothly downwards towards the SuperSump Pump. If the water puddles instead of draining, the trench will be deepened to allow the water to flow. Weep holes are drilled into the base of the wall so that water can flow from the base of the wall into the WaterGuard instead of building up and seeping down the walls. From there the WaterGuard is placed into the trench where it is covered with concrete that makes the system invisible. The “after” pictures shows the finished look once the system is installed.
