Owners of this Chapin, South Carolina home contacted us because of the high moisture issue they would experience in just one room of the house. This would be particularly problematic for the owners because that room was one with carpeting.
The solution here would we to install WaterGuard. The reason for that would be to collect the water that would often come through the walls. The drainage system actually catches the water and delivers it into the sump pumps. This whole process, of course, happens off camera. However, if you look closely at the “after” photo, you can see where we’ve installed the WaterGuard and poured cement over it.
It’s really the best solution for a high traffic area.
One of the worst aspects of a leaky basement is what happens to the things you have stored there. Whether the items are memorabilia or old furniture, it’s safe to say that no one particularly enjoys having their possessions ruined. But that can happen with a leaking basement. Blythewood, South Carolina residents knew that all too well.
Too often, they would walk into their basement and see thin rivers of water crisscrossing their way around all items in the space. Many of them were actually ruined. Some were saved. Others were collected and left to dry out in the sun. It wasn’t a fun process.
Now pictured we have ourselves a solution: WaterGuard and a SuperSump. Both of these products were essential to stop the out pouring of water. WaterGuard is our patented, flexible drainage system. It collects the water as it falls from the walls. It is then directed into the SuperSump pump. The pump then takes the water and pumps it out of the basement and away from the homes foundation.
With these products in place, all storage items can confidently be welcomed back into the fray.
Sump pumps are often a pretty common product whether we are doing a basement or a crawlspace project. Sump pumps are where the water drains to, and where the pump is located that pumps the water outside of the home. This homeowner decided to go with a SuperSump pump system, which is probably the most popular of the sump systems that we install.
The "before" picture shows an area in the basement that will be the location of the SuperSump. While this particular area in the basement did not have too much water intrusion or damage from it, it was the best area for the SuperSump to be installed in. Having it installed here gave it a corner that it could be tucked away in, but also in an area that a discharge pipe could be easily installed.
The "after" photo shows the same area as before, but with the SuperSump pump system installed. While it may not seem like much, this sump pump paired with the WaterGuard can effectively protect this basement from water intrusion. Our sump pumps come with a WaterWatch Alarm, which is the device almost in the center of the pump. This alarm will notify you if the water has risen above where the pumps should be running. This gives the homeowner enough time to address the problem before the water overflows. There are several great parts to our sump pumps and if you'd like to learn more, click here.
Sump pumps are a very important part of the system that we install. While sump pumps are great, they are also useless without the installation of a proper discharge line. There are many ways to mess up a discharge line, but only one way to properly install the line. Fortunately, our crews are well-trained and have a lot of experience in installing our systems.
The first picture shows off the discharge after the crew had installed the sump pump and had started running the discharge pipe. It is important to make sure that wherever the discharge runs, it is away from home and won't flow back towards the home. This prevents the sump pump from pumping out water, then having the same water get back into the home and have to pump it out again.
The second photo shows the same area after the crew had cleaned up the area and filled in the area where the discharge was run. While you can still tell about where the discharge is, the crew did a great job at covering it up. After the grass grows back in this area, there will be almost no sign of the discharge. Our crews do there very best to take care of the issue and making it seem like we were never there! They certainly succeeded in this project.
This basement in Columbia, SC was taking on water. Our All-Dry of the Carolinas team installed at WaterGuard. A water guard is a system that intercepts the water at the perimeter of the basement and drains it unseen and safely into the SumpPump where it is then flushed from the basement. WaterGuard is different because it is designed to not sit in dirt like most draining systems do. There is a special wall flange that creates space between the floor and wall allowing wall seepage to drain through the WaterGuard while keeping it away from the dirt. Since this type of drainage is separated from dirt, the chances of it clogging are nearly impossible!
