CleanSpace is such a great product and makes any crawlspace look brand new! This home in Black Mountain had some much-needed help to get it to a healthy and moisture-free crawlspace. This crawlspace was completely encapsulated to prevent moisture from coming in and mold growing.
The "before" picture shows a crawlspace in desperate need of repair. You can see in this picture that several things are out of place and don't provide for a healthy crawlspace. First off, You can see the hanging insulation. This is usually never a good sign, it usually means that enough moisture has gotten into the insulation and pulled it down, making it sag or fall. You can also see the exposed earth, with the old liner pulled back. A lot of moisture in crawlspaces actually come from and are caused by the ground.
The "after" photo shows the difference that CleanSpace can make in a crawlspace. Our crew came in this crawlspace and treated it like Extreme Makeover: Crawlspace Edition. After cleaning up the crawlspace by removing the remaining insulation and moving bricks/rocks, they began to install the CleanSpace Liner. As you can tell, the CleanSpace makes the crawlspace brighter and overall, more appealing. Not only does the crawlspace look better, but it is protected. This homeowner does not have to worry about moisture, water, mold, or anything having to do with his crawlspace ever again! Oh, and the cable guy will love working in a crawlspace like this!
There are many different ways for moisture to get into a crawlspace, from the floors, walls, and even the entrance. Seldom do we work in a crawlspace where the homeowner already has a proper door to keep the majority of moisture out. This doesn't mean that homeowners don't have nice-looking crawlspace doors, it is just that the doors aren't effective at keeping moisture out.
This crawlspace door matched the outside of the home and looked great when it was shut. However, it didn't do a great job at keeping the moisture from getting into the crawlspace. It was also made of wood, which while it may not seem like a problem, it provides a great place for moisture to soak into and for mold to grow. Having an old door like this partially defeats the purpose of having the CleanSpace liner installed in the crawlspace because it's a huge area where moisture can get into the crawlspace at.
In order to protect this crawlspace from as much moisture as possible, our crew removed the old crawlspace door and installed a new EverLast door. The EverLast door is a much better option for a few different reasons, one of the biggest being that it creates an airtight seal which prevents any moisture from getting into the crawlspace from the door. Another important feature of the door is that it is made of a completely inorganic material, which means that it will never rot and mold cannot grow on it.
Our All-Dry crew was able to install a series of our waterproofing technology that would take care of the water issue in the crawlspace. Our crew installed a CleanSpace liner, condensate pump, and dehumidifier. When encapsulating the crawlspace with CleanSpace, it seals the area to keep moisture from creeping up from the ground and causing damage to your foundation. A dehumidifier was placed in the crawlspace as a solution to the humidity that is produced from the pipes under your house. A condensate pump was connected to the dehumidifier to pump the water from the crawlspace. Together with all these tools, the crawlspace is completely protected from moisture.
This was an average job for our crews here at All-Dry. While some homes have very serious problems with moisture and mold, many customers just want to be proactive, and protect their crawlspaces from future problems. This was one of those jobs.
The "before" photo shows the crawlspace before the CleanSpace was installed. While we can't see any standing water or obvious moisture, you can see the dirt floor, which can be a pain to work on and definitely isn't preventing mold growth!
The "after" picture shows how much nicer and cleaner CleanSpace makes your crawlspace. It makes it easier to work under the house, but what it really did for this customer is gave them piece of mind. They won't ever have to worry about any moisture or mold problems. Especially with the Santa Fe Dehumidfier which keeps any moisture out of the air!
It seems like moisture, standing water, mold and mildew are all things that are supposed to be in the crawlspace. But believe it or not, this actually isn't the case! All of these things can cause damage to not only a home but also the occupants of the home. Water intrusion and high humidity levels under a home can be a very serious issue and should certainly be looked at as soon as possible.
One extremely common sign of high moisture levels are falling insulation. The insulation acts like a sponge and soaks up the moisture in the air which causes the insulation to get heavy, and begin to fall or sag. This is exactly what had happened to this homeowner who called us after their termite company had mentioned to them about the high moisture levels. There are several areas in this photo where the insulation can be seen hanging down.
The second photo shows off the crawlspace once our CleanSpace liner was installed. It completely changes both the look and function of the crawlspace. The CleanSpace changes the crawlspace from a damp, dark, and scary place in a much more inviting area. More importantly, the homeowner no longer has to worry about water getting into the crawlspace, or mold being able to grow.
