High Moisture and Water Intrusion in Seneca, SC Leads to Installation of CleanSpace and SuperSump

Many people don't realize that they may have water or moisture issues with their basements and crawlspaces for much too long. Many people believe that a little water or dampness in these areas is actually normal. While it may be normal, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is healthy or the proper way for it to be handled.

This crawlspace area was in pretty bad shape when our System Design Specialist first went out to the home. The first photo gives a pretty good look at the condition of the crawlspace. At some point this area had been flooded, which can be seen by the water line that is about a third of the way up the wall. The homeowner knew that there was some problems, so they had a sump pump installed at some point. However this wasn't doing a good enough job, which is why the homeowner ended up giving All-Dry of the Carolinas a call.

The system that our Specialist suggested to have installed mainly consisted of CleanSpace and the SuperSump pump system. Although the crew also removed the insulation in the crawlspace, and rolled out drainage matting to help move the water towards the sump pump. The CleanSpace covered almost the entirety of the crawlspace, covering the floors and walls. This keeps moisture and water from getting into the the crawlspace and causing more damage. Another extremely important piece of the system was the SuperSump, which is able to pump out over 2,600 gallons of water per hours.

First Stages of an Encapsulation in Clemson, SC

Pictured as the “before” is the crawlspace before All-Dry of the Carolina began the process of moisture proofing it. It has all the tells of a bad, humid situation. Insulation is hanging on to the ceiling by a thread. The plastic liner they have is saturated with water and dirt. The air itself smells horrible and is not fit for man or beast.

Meanwhile, the Clemson, South Carolina is given a new lease on life in the “after” photo. This is only part two of a staged process. Here, the old liner has been removed. Along the walls, we’ve installed the first wave of our patented, 20 mils thick CleanSpace liner. Across the dirt floor, drainage matting has been fitted and installed. The purpose of this dimpled material is to guide the water towards the sump pump. The following stage is to place CleanSpace on top of this material.

The final stage should give this crawlspace a total encapsulation.

Crawl Space Encapsulation with CleanSpace in Westminster, SC

This homeowner wanted to make sure that they would not have any more problems with their crawlspace. In this home we installed several products in order to keep moisture out of the crawlspace. The main products we installed were CleanSpace Floor and Wall Liner and drain tile. CleanSpace keeps the crawlspace separated from the home, for the most part. It keeps the outside away from the home, keeping moisture out and lowering heating and cooling costs!

The "before" photo shows the crawlspace before our experts came in and installed our products. You can see how much of the outside walls are exposed and uncovered. You can also see the thin, unsealed crawlspace liner that had been laid previously. While this liner does offer some protection, it is not nearly the level of protection CleanSpace provides.

The "after" photo shows the same but the CleanSpace vapor barrier was installed. CleanSpace makes a huge difference in your crawlspace! Not only does it protect your home from moisture and mold, but brightens up your crawlspace! You won't have to worry about hitting your head on things, creepy-crawlies, or crawling into some water or mud!

Total makeover in Westminster, SC

This home in Westminster, SC had a crawlspace that needed major help. The homeowner had begun to experience issues with moister collecting in the crawlspace that was leading to mold. Mold caked the floor joist which was damaging the strength of the home’s foundation.  With the mold issue, water was pooling along the perimeter of the crawlspace. Old installation hung from the ceiling while a dirty liner covered the dirt floor. Water and moister was getting into the crawlspace through unsealed piping entrances, the foundation, and a ratty old crawlspace door. All of these issues could’ve led to cold floors, higher heating cost, insects, odors, unhealthy livings space, etc.

To solve this problem, our All-Dry of the Carolinas team was able to use a series of our products to help this crawlspace become a clean, moister free environment. Mold-X Cleaner was used for cleaning the contaminated mold surfaces in the crawlspace. Mold-X’s purpose is to remove and reduce staining from mold, mildew, dirt, soil, and other organic debris from surface areas in the crawlspace.

After cleaning the crawlspace of debris and draining the standing water, our team got started with installing CleanSpace. CleanSpace is a 20 mil tick liner that is laid across the crawlspace floor and wrapped around walls and piers. This liner works as a barrier to keep moister that is produced from the ground out of the crawlspace. In addition to the CleanSpace a SuperSump was added to the crawlspace as a way of pushing excess water that enters from outside. The SuperSump can pump up to 2,650 gallons an hour, has a WaterWatch system, Superliner with 96 holes for water flow, and an Airtight Lid. The SuperSump works in coordination with the Aprilaire, a dehumidifier which is used to collecting extra moister that is produced under your home.
