If left alone, moisture can and will cause mold growth in a crawl space. It can also damage floor/ ceiling joists and cause a host of other issues. This Chesterfield, Missouri homeowner had been experiencing problems like this for quite a while, and she called Woods Basement Systems for help. Among other things, a Woods team installed a CleanSpace encapsulation system. This inorganic material seals out all moisture and prevents any sort of mold growth.
A crawlspace in St. Louis was in desperate need of some foundation repairs. A couple main supporting beams were starting to fail, causing general concern for the homeowners. To fix this issue, Woods came in and installed the SmartJack System to stabilize the beams. These are custom-cut steel posts set in galvanized fill to evenly distribute the weight of the home. This system added support to the crawlspace, eliminating the homeowners' concerns for decades to come.
Most homeowners seldom enter or use their crawlspaces. Unfortunately, just because they ignore the crawlspace doesn't mean the crawlspace doesn't have an impact on the health of the home.
Water vapor that rises through the unprotected floor of the crawlspace can support mold growth and rot, which can damage the floors that run above the crawlspace. Additionally, because air flows upwards through a house, the smells from mold, mud and critters that get into the crawlspace rises through the rest of the home.
To prevent these problems, Cory A. installed CleanSpace™. CleanSpace™ is a tough, waterproof liner like a pool liner that incapsulates the crawlspace to prevent water, water vapor and even critters from entering the crawlspace. The tear-proof inside of the liner means that things can be stored in the crawlspace without worrying about them ripping the liner and reducing its effectiveness. On the back of CleanSpace™ is an anti-microbial layer that will block mold growth to help keep the crawlspace protected.
Any water that builds up beneath the CleanSpace™ vapor barrier is directed to a TripleSafe™ sump pump so it can be pumped out of the home. Additionally, a Sedona dehumidifier is installed to dry the air and help filter out mold spores.
Because the crawlspace is now protected from mold, critters and water vapor, more insulation can be installed. In this basement, a foam insulation is sprayed against the gaps between the floor joists to help seal in the comfortable air and keep out the uncomfortable air.
This crawlspace is healthier and will help to improve the health of the home above it. Not only is the home more protected from water damage and mold growth, but it will also be more energy efficient but sealing the crawlspace and keeping unconditioned air out of the home.
Festus, Missouri homeowner Harry K. was distraught when water made its way into his basement. Previously, Harry had the Geo-Lock wall anchors installed to straighten his bowing walls. Though this can aide in keeping water out, waterproofing is the only way to ensure water stays out.
CleanSpace guides water leaking in from the walls to the WaterGuard, a perimeter drainage system. Because CleanSpace prevents water vapor from escaping into the basement, it keeps the basement humidity low and hinders mold growth.
Water had wreaked havoc on the basement of Barbara G.'s Festus basement over the years. The walls were water stained and damaged and mold had left its mark along the stone bricks. Barbara was fed up with dealing with the water every time it rained so she called Woods Basement Systems. Woods recommended installing a waterproofing system.
CleanSpace vapor barrier was installed over the dingy walls. CleanSpace is a thick, durable plastic vapor barrier that prevents moisture from the foundation walls from entering the basement. It directs the encroaching water down to the drainage system. CleanSpace gives the basement a brighter and cleaner appearance, as well.
