Lisa and Greg P. of Shelbyville, Illinois wanted to have their crawl space sealed. Recently, they had noticed a smell coming from the space, leading up into their home. It was also very damp and wet in the crawl space causing future problems for their home. After talking with a neighbor that had similar problems, they decided to call Woods Basement Systems. Woods came out to the home to seal the crawl space, getting rid of the smell and moisture in the space. They installed a UltraSump sump pump, a polyethene membrane with our CleanSpace liner on top to seal the space from the earth, as well as adding IceGuard outside of the home with an extended discharge line.  

Moisture was entering a crawlspace in Shelbyville, IL, causing the atmosphere to become damp and musty. To solve this issue, the CleanSpace Encapsulation System was installed. This will completely isolate the crawlspace from the earth, dramatically reducing the humidity level. This will also eliminate mold growth and make the whole house healthier. Support blocks in a crawlspace located in Altamont, Illinois were starting to fail and needed a solution. To fix this issue, Woods installed The SmartJack System. This system consists of galvanized steel beams that replace the support blocks to better support the floors and frame above. The SmartJack System also addresses unstable foundation soil by creating a solid base of engineered fill on which to set the SmartJacks on top of. Thanks to Woods and the SmartJack System, this crawlspace will remain securely supported for decades to come!

Next, the SmartJack System was installed. These steel support systems can permanently stabilize and level the floor joists and girders in the crawlspace. These add strength and stability to the existing columns and piers. They are unaffected by moisture, as they will not rust, weaken, or be affected by mold. These will lift the floors above back toward their original position, reduce floor “bounce” caused by excessive joist spans, and solve the problem once and for all!

A crawlspace in Xenia, Illinois needed sealed and extra support for the floor beams. To address these issues, Woods first installed the CleanSpace Encapsulation System. This is a tarp made from a highly durable material that seals the bottom of the home from insects and moisture. They also installed the SmartJack System. This system consists of custom-cut steel beams that are set in galvanized fill. This process effectively restores the home's stability and can be tightened over time.
