Elizabeth in Westland, Michigan contacted HomeSpec after the summer's heavy rains and bad storms left her with a wet basement. The biggest problem? Her basement was finished and water was seeping in through the walls, ruining the carpet and wood flooring.
Upon inspection, project manager David Covert discovered that several cracks were the culprits of the leaking. Since Elizabeth had to rip out all of the water damaged flooring, David suggested installing a much better, waterproof flooring option.
Crack technician Domonique Price filled and sealed all of the leaking cracks in the foundation walls with a high pressure urethane injection to stop the water intrusion. Then Foreman Jon Lont installed our ThermalDry® Elite Plank Flooring in a light gray color to match the walls.
Being made from inorganic materials, this faux-wood flooring option is great for homeowners who want to beautifully finish their basement but also protect it from water damage in the long term. Elizabeth will not have to waste time or money ripping out musty carpet or wet wood flooring ever again, and she's happy with her choice!

As expected, the repair was completed in just one day. The homeowner was happy with HomeSpec’s service from start to finish and even left a positive review!

One of HomeSpec’s senior project managers, Erik, went out to the home and inspected the homeowner’s concerns. He also looked around at other spots that grabbed his attention as a trained inspector such as the outside of the home. Afterward, Erik made a proposal for the homeowner and together they decided what would best meet the home’s needs. The homeowner decided on a WaterGuard® interior drainage system and CleanSpace® vapor barrier. This combination would capture any water from the walls or floor and lead it to an existing basin. These repairs were installed by teams led by foreman Jon and plumber Rick. The homeowner was happy that their belongings would be safe in the basement moving forward.
