The Wasps Hanging on the Fascia in Morganville, NJ

As this customer in Morganville, NJ, was leaving for work one day, he gazed up at his home and spotted a large wasps nest on the fascia! Since he was a Home Protection Plan customer, he called Cowleys for help and we were sent out.

Since the wasp nest was high up, we grabbed our extendable pole, attached a knockdown aerosol application to it, and then liberally treated the nest. This treatment rapidly exterminates the wasps. A short while later, we removed the nest, disposed of it, and then applied a liquid residual application to this area. This product will eliminate any wasps that return to the area as well as prevent them from building another nest.

Flying Squirrels Infest Home in Morganville, NJ

After spotting a flying squirrel entering his attic, this homeowner in Morganville, NJ immediately called Little Rascals for help and we were sent out. As we inspected the property, we discovered that the flying squirrels were able to gain access into the home by squeezing through the builders gap. A builder's gap is a gap between the fascia board and roof decking and it's caused when roof decking is stopped too short and isn't flush with the fascia. It's meant to help with airflow to the attic, but nuisance wildlife and pests view this as an open invitation into your property!

To safely retrieve the flying squirrels, we installed a positive set, temporarily enclosed the entire area off with hardware cloth, and set up several baited devices nearby. A positive set is comprised of a nose cone that is attached to a two-gaited, heavy-duty device and the nose cone will safely guide the flying squirrels into the device. It's called a positive set, because we are positive that the squirrels will enter the device.

A short while later, we retrieved the flying squirrels and relocated them to a new, humane and safe environment. We then removed our retrieval devices, disinfected the area, and installed trim coil over the entire length of the builder's gap to prevent any future infestations from squirrels or any other nuisance wildlife.

Repairing the Damage Done by Squirrels in Marlboro, NJ

Now that we have removed all the squirrels from this home in Marlboro, NJ and relocated them to a new, humane location, we're back at the property to repair the damage they done. The squirrels had ripped apart the shingles near the gutter to gain access to the attic. After disinfecting the area, we began to repair the damages. First, we cut a piece of sturdy metal flashing and installed it over the opening. Next, we applied roof grit to the flashing to blend it in with the color of the roof. Afterward, we applied a premium adhesive to the area and spread it across the flashing in order to hold the roof grits in place. Now the damages are repaired and the home is free of squirrels!

Bald-Faced Hornets Bugging Gym Goers in Marlboro, NJ

A short while ago, we received a call from a gym owner in Marlboro, NJ, who had reported that several of his customers were getting attacked and stung by a group of hornets as they were entering and exiting the building. Once we arrived and examined the exterior of the building, we located the hornets nest in a tree, about 20 feet up, that was close to the building. We took a closer look at them and identified these stinging insects as bald-faced hornets.

Bald-faced hornets are social stinging insects that have white markings on their face. They're extremely aggressive and will sting anything that invades their space. Their stings carry venom that makes the stings hurt, itch, and swell for about 24 hours. Humans are at the same risk of allergic reactions from bald-faced hornet stings as with other insect stings. What makes them even scarier is they have smooth stingers, which means they can sting over and over again, can actually sense vibrations in the air, and remember their invader's face!

Using our extendable pole, we injected a knockdown aerosol and a knockdown liquid application directly into the hornets nest. These products are designed to exterminate the bald-faced hornets quickly. After several moments had passed, we removed the nest, and the branch it was attached to, and disposed of both of them properly.

Installing The Turtlâ„¢ in Matawan, NJ

We're at this home in Matawan, NJ to install new crawl space access door. Old-fashioned crawl space access wells are often drafty and leaky, and they can allow pests and feral animals into your home. Over time, these wells will begin to fill with leaves, plants, and debris. The wood will rot, the metal will rust, and when it rains or snows, they'll fill with water, flooding the crawl space.

To solve this problem, we removed the old & rotted crawl space door and replaced it with the Turtl™. The Turtl™ is a durable plastic crawl space access well that provides an airtight cover that serves as a crawl space access well and door combined! The rigid plastic design will hold up to daily wear and tear. Its rigid plastic design ensures that it will never rot, rust, or need paint. For increased security and protection, The Turtl™ can be secured shut with a locking device, like a door. Most importantly, The Turtl™ protects your home from water and moisture damage, keeping your crawl space safe, clean, and dry!
