The homeowner reported having a bad odor coming up to the first floor via the crawlspace as well as cold floors. After scheduling a free estimate we sent out an informative book titled “Crawlspace Science” for free to review in the few days between scheduling and the actual appointment. This gave the client a good understanding of the situation and allowed him to form specific questions for our inspector.
After arriving, the client had an idea of what he wanted and our inspector, Mr. Brian McWhirter, showed how Keystone Basement Systems could help accomplish this goal.
The client had a crawlspace which was not encapsulated. This is a very big problem and can lead to a host of negative outcomes. The plan was a proper crawlspace encapsulation.
The project was large. A typical crawlspace encapsulation takes one day, but this one took 3 to complete. That said, once it was complete, it was marvelous. Not only does it look clean, but it is well insulate and protects against mold, moisture, water and odor.
To ensure a dry basement, the TrenchDrain Surface Drainage System was installed to capture water entering the basement door and drain it to the sump pump system.
This home has massive water intrusion. After WaterGuard was installed, with a TripleSafe pump, it became dry after the next rain.
Stephanie saw our add on KDKA and knew she needed to call. She reached out due to some humidity in het basement that was causing a foul odor of mildew. Keystone Basement Systems sent out their field inspector who suggested she have a Sedona Dehumidifier installed.
