This basement in Centreville VA was often too cold in the winter and too hot in the summers. The foundation walls were poorly insulated and the rim joists of the home were uninsulated, allowing external air and temperatures to impact the feel inside the basement. In addition to other work we performed in their attic, we applied Spray Foam Insulation to the open rim joists at the top of the walls. This would help to air seal the basement and keep external air and temperatures from effecting the air inside.
This home in Reston VA was in need of a whole basement performance improvement project. In addition to wall crack repairs and waterproofing, the walls received a treatment of insulation panels, air sealed to keep the cold sub terranean walls from impacting the comfort inside of the home.
This Fairfax VA homeowner was experiencing comfort issues in their home. The floors were often hot in the summer and cold in the winter. They had noticed a need to repeatedly adjust their thermostat to try and make if feel cooler or warmer. The called us to help and our Home Performance Sales Pro Pedro went out to visit and see if he could find a solution. During his no cost, whole home inspection, Pedro was able to identify that the crawl space was uncontrolled and vented. This meant that outside air and temperatures were able to impact the crawl space and the temperature of the rooms above. Vents in the crawl space also allowed for dust and allergens from outside to make their way into the home and resulted in poor air quality in the home. Pedro advised that the homeowners should have the space encapsulated and insulated from the outside. This meant sealing up the vents and insulating the walls of the crawl space. The crawl space is now closed off, controlled and able to be used for storage if needed. The air quality in the home is improved and the energy cost to heat and cool the home will now be lower.
This home in Falls Church VA home had a number of treatments performed to help improve the areas below ground level in the house. A full crawl space encapsulation was done to help control unwanted moisture and wetness and Spray Foam was used to air seal and insulate the rim joists of the home. Throughout the basement and crawl space, the rim joists were uninsulated and allowed for uncontrolled air flow in and out of the home. This allowed moisture, dust and allergens to come in from outside, impact the air quality of the home. We sealed up each space with Spray Foam.
Wood and other organic materials have the potential to degrade, rot and grow mold. This crawl space entrance door in Alexandria VA was showing the signs of age.
