This crawl space in Alexandria VA had a sump pump that wasn't working the way the homeowner needed it to. The crawl space would gather water in several spaces when it rained and it was not all being captured by the sump pump. Our production team installed sub floor water proofing to help collect and send all of the unwanted water to the newly installed double sump pump to discharge it out of the home. The rest of the crawl space surface was covered with a moisture barrier to keep the air quality of the home from having too much humidity.
Although every basement waterproofing jobs starts inside, the projects can often extend outside of the home. This drainage pipe was run as far away from the foundation of the home as possible. We do whatever we can to try and return a home or the yard it sits on, back to normal once we complete a project.
Crawl space encapsulated successfully
Our goal with any home project is to leave a home in better condition than it was in before we did work. That includes the outside. We often have to dig into a yard to lay a discharge line for sump pumps for basement or crawl space waterproofing jobs like this one.
The crawl spaces of this Mount Vernon home had enough humidity in each of them that water dripped from the mold and mildewed insulation and joists. Several contractors had tried to help over the years to make this area beneath the home better.
To help these homeowners, our team removed the old insulation and vapor barrier. We also had to remove some dead wildlife, and clean the HVAC equipment fully to rid it of mold. We encapsulated the duct work and the crawl space, installing TerraBlock insulation and a thick 20 mil. CleanSpace vapor barrier. The results were a clean, healthy, and safe crawl space for these homeowners.
To ensure professional installation and superior service we carefully created an international network of over 350 trusted basement contractors.
