This crawlspace was in pretty poor condition. Moisture was seeping in and causing mold to grow in a lot of places. In order to stop moisture, cold air, and bugs from coming into the crawl space from any longer, we encapsulated the crawl space with our CleanSpace liner. We also installed a SmartSump sump pump connected to a drainage system to help waterproof. We also connected a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to the sump because the SaniDry is capable of collecting gallons of water just through the moisture in the air.
This crawl space had newer insulation installed because the older insulation had became too damp and moldy. However, after the homeowner noticed the newer insulation would eventually fall to the same fate, they called us to help control the moisture. In the before picture you can see the walls stained from moisture, rotting beams, heavy insulation, and the remnants of a decayed plastic liner. Seen in the after picture is the encapsulated crawl space covered in CleanSpace lining and SilverGlo insulation panels. Not seen is a SaniDry Sedona hooked up to a SmartSump sump pump, and drainage matting sitting under the CleanSpace lining. The customer won't have to worry about moisture issues any longer.
Do you have a "vented" crawl space? We like to put "vent" in quotes because it almost never works as intended. Instead, the vents bring in humid air in the Summer, and cold air in the Winter. Both are bad results for you and your home. Your crawl space deserves proper care, so have one of our inspectors out to provide a free plan of action today!
This crawlspace was having issues with leaking from plumbing issues under their home. This home also had 6 mil polyethylene ground cover laying over gravel, a shortcut most people take. The problem with this cover is it rips very easily and gets old quickly, (as seen in the before picture). It also does a terrible job keeping moisture from the earth out. In order to fix these two problems simultaneously we installed our Drainage Matting System, (a dimpled polyethylene membrane) and a Smart Pump. Luckily for this crawl space, their was no groundwater leakage, just the plumbing errors. For this, a Smart Pump is used. This smart pump will alarm the owner when there is a plumbline leak, and at the same time will drains water away into the soil. The Drainage Matting System helps the Smart Pump by flowing water to the pump. It also looks clean and is very durable. Although our Clean Space encapsulation is recommended to be placed over the Drainage Matting System, our customer did not wish for it because moisture in their crawl space was not an issue, just the plumbing leaks.
This crawlspace was dirty and wasting a lot of energy on heat before we got to it. After we encapsulated it and insulated it using CleanSpace walls, SilverGlo insulation panels, a SaniDry dehumidifier, and spray foam insulation, the crawlspace was clean and efficient on keeping the house warm during cold Winters.
