WaterGuard Protects Kalamazoo, MI, Home from Leaking Water

After the last rainfall, Gary noticed water leaking into his basement and running down the walls. He knew this was an issue he couldn't fix, so he called Ayers. Our team of specialists visited his home to evaluate and recommend a solution. Upon inspection, they decided WaterGuard, a drainage piping system, would be the best route. WaterGuard, unlike other drainage pipes, is placed on top of the footing rather than alongside it to prevent clogging. Gary loves having a dry basement!

Brightening a Basement in Kalamazoo, MI

Leaking basement walls are known to worry homeowners. Things only get worse when mold is discovered along with the leaks. Mold will grow on any organic material if the temperature permits it. The only thing it really needs is humidity.

When this customer called and told us he was looking to replace his water damaged walls, we knew that mold was a possibility - now or in the future. The team used a SaniDry XP dehumidifier and BrightWall to prevent this possibility from becoming reality. Unlike the stone walls that were already in place, BrightWall panels are made from inorganic material so mold won’t grow on them. This same inorganic plastic creates a barrier that neither water vapor or humidity can pass through. The new panels did more than just add protection from mold and water damage, like the name says, this Kalamazoo basement is now brighter than ever.

BrightWall Panels Put an End to Leaks in Kalamazoo, MI

This homeowner had done just about everything he could to keep water out of his basement. But even after replacing both the roof and gutters, water was still leaking in. Sick of the constant dampness and the water stained walls in the before photo, he gave us a call. It was obvious that the block walls were going to continue to leak, but that leaking didn’t have to affect the rest of the basement. The crew installed the BrightWall panels in the after photo to allow that walls to leak and drain without bothering the owner. The panels were snapped into place in front of the old walls, and because of their rigid plastic material, the leaking moisture won’t be able to pass through. Not pictured in the after photo but at the foot of the wall, there sits a perimeter drainage system. Once the water flows down the walls, it will enter the drainage system to be pushed out of the basement.

Egress Window Brings Light into Kalamazoo, MI Finished Basement

Heather planned on creating another bedroom in her basement. Just half of her basement was finished but building code requires all homeowners to have an egress window in all finished basement bedrooms for safe exit in case of an emergency. Most standard basement windows are not insulated and let in cold air. They are definitely not leak proof and during a flood will allow water inside your basement. We installed an egress window in Heather's basement which also allows more natural light and fresh air in to make the space feel larger and more inviting.

Kalamazoo, MI Basement Waterproofing

Courtney has had water issues in her basement for the past year she has been in her home. Water was coming in where the wall meets the floor but also seeped in through the cinder block wall. The water that enters the basement pools in the middle of the room but there is no sump pump. We installed the WaterGuard system to keep the water out of the basement. The system is made up of a French drain that is installed under the floor but above the foundation so it won't clog. It collects water that seeps into the basement and sends it to the sump pump to get discharged. We also installed the TripleSafe Sump Pump System to provide her with three levels of protection to her basement. It makes sure that water is getting expelled out of the home even in the event of a power outage or a pump malfunctioning.
